Some quick, colored doodles from a while ago.I eventually couldn't settle on one--SO SHE GETS TEW
I haven't really fleshed her out much since she really just started as a doodle of a girl with crazy hair, but she reminds me a lot of Shego with her melty radiation powers. I'm kicking around the idea of her having gone through a lot of cancer treatments as a kid (thus no hair due to her reaction to chemotherapy) but I honestly don't know enough about radiation and cancer treatments to have definite reason for her radiation powers. Research is in order.
I was trying to shoot more for a street-goth look on the right, but I'm afraid it just looks more gangster than anything (NEEDS MORE CROSSES AND PENDANTS AND HOT TOPIC SHIT, OBVOUSLY). I do like drawing her in black, though.
I've also been talking to ~Res-Gestae about her having a brain tumor of sorts. One that cracks jokes and gives her headaches when they argue. I like the idea the more I think about it.

I like her! And that attitude your drew her with. I'm with Sanity though on maybe having the chemo warp some ability she had beforehand. Could be an interesting origin.
I so want to see her walking around, just minding her own business, and setting off a bio-hazard alarm of some kind.

Lol. Well, it's like graffiti in it's own way. It flows in such a way that it reminds me of extravagent street paintings. The lines are bold yet graceful. Lol, I could go on forever.

Dude, I love hearing what folks think--good or bad. If folks can explain the 'why' of their opinion I feel even better since it tells me what's working and what's not so I know what changes to make in the future.

Yep! Firestorm actually does come back--I think DC is on version 3 of the character now? At least if Darkest Night is any indication. XD But don't worry about it, all supers are a little bit intertwined, and her design is definitely unique and badass enough to stand on its own.

So, I came back to this comment because my brother's friend lent him the volume collection of Darkest Night and after sitting down to actually read a DC comic for the first time in forever I've fallen in love with Firestorm. He seems like a fun character (the new and old versions) and now I want to see if I can find more issues of his stuff.
Though omg, now after really getting a real glimpse of his character, powers, crazy-hair, etc, I really do feel like I'm copying the character. >>;

you lose your hair when you go through Chemo fairly quickly, but once you stop it grows back fast. some people keep it short or shaved out of habit/comfort. my mom just finished it and her hair is coming back, nice work

I hope your mum's doing okay now! I've heard chemo treatments can be really stressful.
I've heard that hair loss where chemo's concerned kinda depends on the person--like some lose all their hair, some lose patches, and some don't lose any at all. I'm also wondering whether or not her hair simply doesn't grow because of some mutation.
So much fleshing out to do.

actuelly the hair stops growing because of what chemo does. chemo slows down the reproduction of cells to stop the cancer, and your hair normally grows so fast, it just stops. and its not just the hair on your head ether, my mom even lost her eye lashes. once its over the hair starts to grow back, most of the time, for no reason i can think of, it grows back lighter and curlier
