Actually you can't find it anywhere in stores. Eric Chahi manage to get a renewed version of the game to buy online, so it could only cost him the least. Putting it in stores would have cost far more to all of them (author, editor, distributor, etc).
So I guess it's better the way it is.
By the way, new version's quite beautiful compared to the old one, and a little bit harder. If you're a fan, it's a must buy.

Yeah! I played the demo and it was sleek! I was really entertained! full version only costs 8$... cheap, but I know the game is good!
