Description
I'd say a good 20 hours of work or more went into this. Man was it worth it though. I can't wait to make get my print of it.Project is the seasonal Calander for the Slane College of Fine Arts. There are five people representing each of the five departments, Art, Music, Multimedia, RadioTV, TheaterSpeech.
(Special Thanks To Kevin, Dan, John and Kelly for posing)
Moon was a stock photo found elsewhere, then vectored. Slane College and Bradley University Logos are registered trademarks.
Purpose: Create a work of art that also Conveys the years events (Two sided)
Prize: $300
(I want to win)
I would really love feedback on this, it is one of the best projects I have worked on and I want to know how to improve it. Also, any thoughts would be nice too.
Thanks all
[EDIT] Jan 31, 2005
Retouching it for my portfolio, darkened some of the colors to boost up the contrast. also, change the blacks from dull blacks, to vivid, color-filled ones. Should make for a better overall appearance. Also, fixed a few minor bugs I saw such as the rock formation not continuing past the border.
Also, I did not win the competition, in fact the university screwed all the competitors and chose a graduate students work, when they promised they would choose and undergrads... Mine is still better than the graduate students, If I can find an image to it, I will post it so you can judge for yourself.

I've never seen anyone vector the moon before and have it come out as looking like the moon and not some wierd round thing with strange shading. This is really good. I love the guy representing art, right down to his flip flops.
Sorry to see you didn't win the competition.

beautiful imagery. I like the figures. i think the typeography isn't quite up to the level of quality of the images, mainly the "2004" and "2005" but they're not bad.

So many comments on this one already so what I am to say has probably already been said But I really like this one as well. I love all the shapes in the moon and the contrast of the two colors, the yellow and the blue are really nice. All the people are drawn amazingly too
Not a very detailed comment, I am sorry But the colors are what really get me, the suttle purples, blues, and yellows, so nice
I hope you won the contest, that must look beautiful printed out on a nice glossy stock~

i like it! the gradiant on the topmost (rock?) is awesome. only one thing though: the top guy holding the paint looks like he has a black eye- lol. think the shadow might be a *tad* too dark

it's truly beautiful graphic work. my only issues with it are the "creativity, imagination, communication" part. i would like to see it kerned more, right now the kerning is a bit off, and it's a bit distracting since it's in the focal point of the piece. and the "of communication and fine arts" i would like to see centered in the crossbar of the 4.
but those are just my pissy graphic design problems with it.
as i said, the image itself is lovely.

Woah, those vectored people are definately awesome. Loving that one with the guitar. It seems that everything on it is pretty much perfect. The reflection from the moon on the stones and such, hehe
Good luck, I hope you'll win.

very nice! The pose of the dude with the camera-stand is very neat. The bright colours in the back... hmm... I sure wouldn't have risked to do that but damn man you sure pulled that off nice The brightness in the back is awesome! That combined with this composition make this a Rockin' piece

I like the look of it a lot, I've already talked to you about my "issues" with it. Being the first finished one that I have seen I can't really say how it compares but if if they all come out like this it should make for a nice little contest.

well does look like the paint pallet goes under his black t-shirt. I'm thinking the pallet just has a dip there but might look better rounded off...
