Description
Hey everyone!! I know this change is suddenBut I had always wanted to differentiate wings and tails, for various reasons, and just didn't know how to.
But Tenshilove had come up with these ideas for tails/wings, and it finally clicked for me on how to separate them in a way I needed them to be.
I had always been worried about "tail mouths" in particular, since some Xynthii hybrids have them, and I had always been worried about a MYO coming in with one that may be too similar to a hybrid tail.
So I think this is the best way to regulate that kind of thing, AND make new traits!
I got permission from Tenshilove to do this, and she also gave me permission to use her adopts for examples! Thank you so much!!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The MAIN difference between Functional and Non-Functional wings, is that functional wings/tails can be use as an extension of the body, like hands to grab or grip and even lift or move things, or tails that can see or bite, taste or smell, etc
Non-Functional tails, such as animal tails, cats, dogs, bunny tails, dragon tails even, may be able to wrap themselves around an object, like a ball, but it is not effective or efficient, and they can't really be used to do complex tasks, other than basic tail movement. They cannot have "sentient" type movements or actions or senses.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With that being said, normal wings, like goop, fairy, pixie, angel, demon, normal bone wings, etc are totally normal traits as they were before.
Same with normal animal tails and even bone tails with no skull at the end, are normal legendary traits.

EDIT #1: I added the plug/controller tails as examples! But note that this includes USB tails as well

would you mind giving me a rough sketch of what you mean?
I think i understand..... but it would be easier for me to see it visually

animal tails are always non-functional
as long as there are no eyes, hands, mouths, (ears lol), hands..... that kind of thing, it will be a "normal" legendary trait.

Hi! I’m just curious, since this is an admin only trait is it not one of the traits you can pay to add onto a premade xynthii? <3

Hi Barbie <3
I read some other comments before making this one.
Have you made up your mind about the plug/usb tails yet?
Also what would you class the game controller tails as, admin trait or non admin trait? (got a feeling your undecided with this one as well but I must ask)

ObsceneBarbie In reply to Szarlotki [2018-05-01 05:25:19 +0000 UTC]
Yep! I just made a journal, I decided to make them functional/admin only
I explained my reasoning for it here;
Legendary: Electrical Tail traitHey guys!
Another quick trait clarification
A lot of you guys have asked me what type of trait tails like;
Plug, USB, game controller, etc tails would be
such as these gorgeous babes Ten has made;
I decided to classify them as functional, admin only
I debated very long and hard about this decision, and here is why I chose to classify as functional;
these tails have the use of electricity, and can therefore potentially plug into computers or other electrical databases, and "download" information straight into their brains
this, imho, is a form of learning, and therefore another humanoid function, like sight, sound, taste, etc, that non-functional tails, such as any animal tail, could not normally do. Even if you had an electrical eel tail, you couldn't plug it in and have it function like a USB or other type of adapter. it's for this reason I have chosen to make these types of tails a functional tail type.
Thanks for b

I know functional wings/tails can grab or grip and even lift or move things, or tails that can see or bite, taste or smell, etc.
I also read tentacle tails are nonfunctional..
But what if I want the tentacle tail to be able to grab, move, and lift things (basically be an extension/posable limb)?
Would it still be a regular legendary tail or an admin only functional tail trait?

ObsceneBarbie In reply to CheriPearl [2018-03-31 23:01:59 +0000 UTC]
I classified tentacle tail as non-functional, mostly because it's an animal tail. Like a cat tail, or dog tail, bunny tail, etc.
you can have the tentacle tail hold things, but it's still non-functional c:

I have a question about the USB/Plug tails. Would they count as a functional tail? I could see them wrapping around things and picking them up but since the actual cord would have the be thin like normal cords to fit the design of the charger or plug in it would have to wrap around multiple times around something to hold it and if they go to put it down there's an almost 90% chance it would fall over so they wouldn't be very efficient with moving things; maybe just grabbing things for the xynthii to take if it's too far away but that's about all I can see them actually doing? And I have a hard time seeing them being able to shock something if there isn't any metal touching their prongs or any metal ending the cord tails have since they usually only spark if there's a charged electricity? I don't know, I'm sorry if this is a bit confusing and long but I'm saving up for a MYO and want to make an electric xynthii with a USB/cord tail so I decided to ask ;u;

I actually have had someone else ask me that.
I haven't yet decided what it should be, since technically it could be either one OTL
The use of electricity could make it functional, but it could also be non-functional due to what you had mentioned.
I'm not quite sure yet, I'm so sorry OTL
I will get back to you when I can think about it a little bit more ;u ;

I have a question!
Tentacle tails(?) have been around longer than the functional tail trait much like the plant tail traits someone else asked about.
So does this mean tentacles would also count as a legendary thing and not part of this admin only trait thing?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ObsceneBarbie In reply to Chisai-Yokai [2018-03-21 15:36:52 +0000 UTC]
Tentacle tails by themselves are a normal, non-functioning legendary tail!

Chisai-Yokai In reply to ObsceneBarbie [2018-03-23 01:18:37 +0000 UTC]
Gotcha! Thank you!
I actually just thought of another question related to tails!
If you buy the trait to have a tail, aside from it not being allowed to be a living/functioning tail like above are there any other restrictions?
Like is it allowed to have spikes and stuff or is that going to count as a new trait? Or does it all count as part of the tail trait?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ObsceneBarbie In reply to Chisai-Yokai [2018-03-23 02:32:53 +0000 UTC]
spikes/halos are part of the tail, as long as it's on the tail itself!

Gosh sorry I just thought of one more question!
So for the elongated spike/teeth material trait, would that allow you to make a couple of the eye teeth longer? Like vampire style?
Sort of like what is done in the last adopt of this batch?

Eeh I have a few questions! ;v;
Do the plug/charger/usb tails count as functional tails?
I mean, like those in Tenshi's batch Xynthii adopts || Plug 'n Play || closed
Aaand what about plant tails (like regular plants, not those with a mouth haha)? Or fungus tails?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ObsceneBarbie In reply to JadeyW [2018-03-09 01:11:27 +0000 UTC]
The plant tails I'll say is regular, non-functioning, since they've been done before
As for the plug/charger/usb tails.......... let me think about it for a bit DX
I'm torn currently, since I could see them being non-functioning, but at the same time they could be functioning due to the usage of electricity

JadeyW In reply to ObsceneBarbie [2018-03-09 03:34:55 +0000 UTC]
haha yeah, that's what I thought

Thank you so much for answering, this will help me a lot!

I'm glad you differentiated it! I was wondering what trait they were considered~
I was curious though, so like lets say you have a functional tail/wing with an eye on it. The eye would be like another eye to the xynthii correct?
So like they could see in front of them and behind them?
And then the ones with skulls I assume they can then use their tail to bite or maybe see if they have an eye in the skull, but its them doing it and NOT the tail right?
Like (I believe) with xynslugs/slugoiis the tails are sentient. The character might feel what the tail feels, but it really can't control it other than it being attached to them and so the tails have their own personality, but these don't right? They are just like another appendage and its the xynthii's brain telling it to bite just like a xynthii would tell their own hand to wave and eye to blink (all sort of automatically/subconsciously like we do when we move our own limbs)?
Like I get that dog and cats have tails that aren't sentient they don't do much, besides express emotion. But with the "functional wings/tails" the hands and the skulls don't move on their own right? They aren't technically sentient either?
Gah. I'm sorry if this isn't making sense. I was mostly just curious!!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ObsceneBarbie In reply to Onyx-Diamond [2018-02-03 00:53:10 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I really needed to have this differentiated tbh OTL
As for your questions, those are great questions!!!
Fuctional tail/wing with eye: yes! They would be able to see out of it
Skulls: it depends on how the skull is set up, if it's a bone skull, I would definitely assume it's the Xynthii, but if it is like, a snake tail, the tail itself may be sentient/alive, and can make it's own decisions. So it really comes down to the design of the functional tail itself.
for the hands and skulls, the hands wouldn't move on their own, it would be like another appendage. for the skull it goes back to the above question/answer ; u ;
I hope that makes sense!
