Nope, that's a false rumour. Book 2 is 14 episodes long, and Book 1 and Book 2 together make up season 1. That's 22 episodes.
Then Book 3 and Book 4 are both 13 episodes long each, and they make up season 2. Bryan and Mike confirmed all this at Comic-Con.
Yeah, it's weird and complicated, I know. But FOUR books! We'll have plenty of time for the crack.

I can't stand Mako, he annoyed the hell outta me, didn't mind him as much with Asami though.
I think I'm skipping them because he reminds me of Sokka and she reminds me of Toph

I wouldn't say that I can't stand Mako ... I just strongly dislike him at times. He (albeit subconsciously) treats Korra like she's crap and can't really do anything, and I'm still confused as to how he's attracted to her. It seems to me like it's mainly the Avatar status that he likes about her. He does have some redeeming points, though. Being an older sibling myself, I can totally understand how he feels about and behaves with Bolin. That scene that shall not be named? I like to think that, should Korra not have kissed him, he would have actually explained that Bolin was a better choice for her and stuff. Saying that he was confused was just his stupid, dorky way of starting out. (He obviously didn't think that whole speech through.) But hey, at the heart of it all, he's just a dorky, socially-awkward kid. And it's kinda cute
Wow, I just did a semi-rant on why I have a dislike/not-so-dislike relationship with Mako. Sheesh.
I kinda feel like ... Mako doesn't deserve Asami? She's too fabulous and awesome for him. But yeah, given a choice between Korra and Asami, I think he should go for Asami too. And it would make sense! He has a proper reason to like her. She sponsored his probending team and, effectively, kept him and his brother off the streets. She's NICE and doesn't look down on them for being poor or anything. And I'm going to stop now before I start ranting again, dear gods.
You know what? I think I'll just shut up all together. Yep, that sounds like a good idea.
