Description "Strangling Fig Tree" 2022. Pencil and Felt tip pen on paper. 29.7 x 42.0 cm.
This was an exercise set for me as a challenge by a friend. I had to complete it with being restricted to only using:

- Trees as subject matter.
- Repetition.
- Coloured Pencils
- Felt tip pen.
- At least 2 colour tones

The Strangling Fig tree drops its branches on the limbs of neighbouring trees. The dropped branches grow air roots which grow and trail downwards  until they reach the ground where they take root. These dangling roots harden and form into trunks. Branches then grow out from this and wrap around the trunk of the host tree and strangle it and cut off nutrients. Eventually after the host tree dies and rots away. All that remains is the hollow lattice of the Strangling Fig.
