Acrylics on Canvas BoardAnd a tiny bit of explanation, as this is an illustration to a story that only exists in my brain.
Uther discovers that Merlin is a sorceror. Normally he wouldn't hesitate, but he knows how close Merlin is to Arthur, and it will be easier to take action when Arthur is out of the way. When Arthur rides off with a few knights to check out reports of bandit activity on the borders, Uther decides it's the ideal opportunity to drug Merlin so that he can't use magic, and then burn him at the stake. However Arthur's horse goes lame and he returns early...

I must admit I was quite pleased with it. There are still glaring faults of course, (which I won't point out: because either you've noticed them yourself, or...if you haven't...then I don't want you to. *ROFL*)
But I felt like it was getting much closer to what I wanted to paint. (Mind you, of course, now there's the creeping insidious fear that this is the "good one" and that this is as good as I get, and that it was a fluke, and now I'll be back to painting "slightly crap" again. *LOL*)

I always have that feeling! But then i just look back at how badly i used to draw and that gives me hope! 
Anyway as I said, i think this is stunning as it is. Your bound to have a conflict between what you wanted to paint and what came out. But i think this is wonderful!

Yeah, touch wood I'm gradually improving. As you say, every painting you do teaches you something new. Yeah, I find improvement a torturously slow process as well. I suppose at least one IS gradually improving. It would be a lot worse if you couldn't see any difference between your early work and your current work at all.

Thank you very much. I wasn't so sure about the Merlin-likeness in this, but I was quite pleased with Arthur, (since I've been having HORRENDOUS problems trying to get a resemblance with him).
(And thank you for noticing the reflected fire in the armour. It's so nice when somebody notices that you've tried to do that.)

I just thought, how hard to try and draw Merlin drugged up! It's a good likeness. This is for sure the best Arthur yet (though I think they are all great). I really must find the time to do some painting!

I'm working my way through Supernatural Season 4 at the moment, (I missed it, so I'm catching up with it on DVD.) I'd forgotten just how great that series is. You could always do a Supernatural painting if you fancy doing some artwork, your Dean in pencil was gorgeous...

That's a great idea! Might give it a go. I think Dean would be still be a gorgeous man even if i'd drawn him with my left hand in kiddy crayons! Hehe.

Well, he would still be great in crayon, I'm sure, but your pencil drawing caught him EXACTLY. It's lovely.
I love the episode in season four where they find that their adventures have been written about in books. And they find out about Dean/Sam fic. I don't know any other programme that's been brave enough to just acknowledge the slash fic and laugh about it. I thought that was great. (And the episode where Dean has to torture Alistair just KILLED me, wonderful stuff.)
(It's just annoying that I won't be able to catch up on Season Five until it comes out on DVD.)

You are a wonderful artist, I would never say anything intentionally rude like that. (And even if there was someone who was absolute crap, I still wouldn't be rude like that).

I'm more of a Merlin gal, so I can't even blame the distraction, (although Arthur is still incredibly cute obviously). But he just has a very difficult face to paint/draw.
