If you are moving to Brazil, you might take a look at the large parks south and in Argentina. I hear there are some wonderful places there. Brazil is such a big country. Oh yes, I am looking forward to Iguassu Falls...I was close to there once when I visited Ponta Pora on the Paraguay border but was not able to get south to visit that amazing wonder of the world. Also, the moutain peaks in Argentina! Could you imagine shooting one of these mountain peaks : [link]
Allot of op in Argentina. I am looking forward to a visit to the Pantal to photograph wild everything. I drove past that area but once again could not stop. There is some amazing natural events that happen in that part of the world.
I bought a special camera just for Brazil since the humidity is so high here. I got the Mark 3 1DS since is is totally weather sealed and should hold up well in this climate. Not for sure how long my 40d will last before it begins to mold inside. So difficult to control the type of mildew that grows on just about everything here in Brazil.

That is very smart. I lived in Taiwan years ago and had a very durable Pentax 35 mm, which was almost indestructible. After traveling in rain forests, crowded jostling on packed city buses, and almost constant rain for months my camera worked great. I was never sorry to have a durable camera. I am sure your camera is a good investment.
I am very envious. You are going to have so many great photo ops and experiences. Keep a journal if you can so you can remember more details of events.

LOL, very true my friend. Actually when most people go to Yosemite National Park they just visit the valley, so with about 4 million visitors a year during the Summer it can be very crowded. If you just go before Memorial day (in May) or after Labor day (September) holidays, you can avoid the crowds. You can also go to the area of the park outside the valley, especially if you go backpacking, and avoid the crowds.

yeah, but if you come in April, May, late September, or October you still have nice weather and it is not back at all for crowds.

That waterfall was nearly dried up when I went this summer. Must have been beautiful to see it flowing like that. Great shot!

It was after a Winter of heavy rain so it was so full it was almost flooding. It was a lucky year for waterfalls
