Description The Solar System, a significantly large star system on the Milky Way’s Orion Arm, home of 4 sapient species and numerous worlds teaming with life, both conventional and exotic.

Vulcan is a scorched world, with temperatures hot enough to melt rock. Its equator is covered by a band of lava with a few islands made of high-melting point rocks in the center. Strangely, Vulcan is not tidally locked but rather on a slow rotation of 27 Earth days. Vulcan is rich in resources due to its high volcanic activity. However, it is very hard to obtain these resources due to the temperatures and high gravity. It also a has a small asteroid moon named Talos, which should not be there, planets this close to the sun would usually have their moons ejected from their parent planets.

Mercury is the smallest of the inner planets. It is barren, cratered and completely devoid of life. Often considered the least interesting of the inner planets. The same as OTL Mercury.

Venus is the first of the habitables. It is often called Earth’s twin due to the two sharing a similar appearance. Despite this, Venus has several key differences. Venus is warmer and more humid than Earth, making ice and deserts a rare sight on this planet. It is orbited by its binary moons Cupid and Aeneas. Venus is home to an industrial age civilization of cephalopod-like humanoids, they are so uncannily humanlike that some humans have said that they look as if humans had evolved on Venus. Humanity arriving on Venus has caused massive amounts of panic within the population due to fears of alien invasion partially caused by the recent publications of many science fiction novels. There is currently a situation brewing in the western half of Venus’ largets continent, this could lead to a conflict with the scale of World War 1.

Earth is a temperate world and the largest of the habitable planets. Earth shows much more climate variation than its sister Venus. It is orbited by its single massive moon Luna, which is orbited by a submoon, a captured asteroid named Pandia.  Earth is the homeworld of humanity, who have been rapidly advancing in space technology in the past few decades, fusion and nuclear salt-water rocket engines have made it much easier to send massive amounts of people and supplies for new colonies and new launch technologies have made space travel as a whole much cheaper. Humanity has set up colonies around the solar system. The current human population in space is about 15 million.

Mars is a dry world dominated by a vast desert to the south. To the north is an ocean where vegetation blooms along the coasts, further inland are cold savannas and prairies. Just like OTL, Mars hosts the tallest mountains in the solar system. Around the coasts of the Argyre Sea in the south, lives a species of mantis-like aliens, they are entering the agricultural age, many of them have decided to settle down and start domesticating the local flora and fauna, some have discovered metallurgy and even firearms.

Minerva is the smallest of the habitable planets, it is covered in red plants whose coloration comes from the carotenoids they use for photosynthesis. In its heydays, Minerva was inhabited by a civilization of tall crablike aliens that built megacities, some reaching the size of California. This species looked further out to the stars, of course, they couldn’t live long-term on the other habitable worlds of their star system due to their own planet’s lower gravity. So they decided to settle on the moons of the inner planets as well as the barren rocks of Ceres and the asteroid belt. There are still some cities on Luna as well as Mars’ moons that have an active Minervan population to this day. Unfortunately, Minerva’s glory days came to an end, a nuclear war was triggered after 2 superpowers fought over control of a small country with large deposits of rare minerals. Most of the bombs used were neutron bombs and salted nuclear bombs designed to release tons of radiation over a large area, leaving the cities mostly intact while killing nearly everyone in the area. The Minervans fled deep underground into bunkers filled with cryopods. Orbiting Minerva is Erichtonius, a moon that was only partially terraformed by the time the bombs were dropped. On Erichtonius is the largest known active settlement of Minervans, a domed city called Erakas with a population of 23.6 million. Erakas contains a vault containing the genetic information of all large species that lived on Minerva as well as those of important microorganisms.

Bacchus is the furthest of the habitable planets and last one the develop life. Primitive chordate-like creatures have just begun to evolves on this world, the ocean has been dyed purple by photosynthetic microorganisms that use retinal instead of chlorophyll. Arthropod-like organisms have already started to migrate onto land and are consuming the plants and fungi that came before them.
