A young male lion and lioness make their way across the grasslands. The Female is heavy with cub, and they need to find a place to stay, the rainy season wouldnt be for 2-3 months, but they needed to find a proper place to birth the cub, then they will have to focus on a place to wait out the season on the foreign land.
Zuko lowered his mate into a soft grass patch. She began to breathe her labor breathes "Just in time my mate." Abeke smiled up at her mate Zuko before letting out a groan. Zuko nuzzled his mate, his eyes closed tightly "Not yet, you cant be ready yet. You need at least another week, its not safe now." Abeke tried to slow her breathing, only to release another whine of pain "Im so sorry, the cub is coming tonight."
Zuko tried to stay strong, but the truth was, he was the more sensitive mate out of the couple. A tear rolled down his cheek "Promise me, we will still be together, even if we lose our cub?"
Abeke smiled, sliding her par behind Zukos head and pulling him closer "Of course you crazy lion. Your mine, its not in my nature to share." She kissed him. Then she broke the kiss, and playfully pushed his chest, knocking him back by about a foot. "Now-" Her labor breathes had picked up "Get some grass to make us a nest for the night."

Zuko smiled at his amazing mate. He nodded before walking off to find the soft grass, bringing it back in heaps. His cub would need the best care they could provide. Being born this early is dangerous by all means. After her was satisfied with the grass and moss he had found and collected he ran back to his mate, she was asleep. He gently nudged her "Baby?" She smiled up at him, then wrapped her arm around him tugging him down "False alarm."
Zuko laughed "Good, though what are we going to do with all the grass and such?" Abeke rolled her eyes "Make a nest, under the tree." Zuko cocked his head "What tree?" Abeke chuckled and nodded off in a direction "That tree."
About 200feet away was a large tree, taller by the other Savannah trees only by a couple feet, rocks framed the base of the land, and the tree itself was growing on a giant rock cave. Perfect for a lions den.
Abeke lowered her head "Isnt it perfect? Lets sleep for the night before we got to make it into our home." Zuko nodded "Alright, but I expect you to pull your weight!" Abeke shook her head "Fine, next time we have a cub, you pull your own weight and get pregnant." Zuko laughed. He loved Abeke, they would make a beautiful family together. He knew it.

This is in the time line about 3 1/2 months before Kai and Asante had their cubs X3 and the tree they have chosen for their home? Its less than a mile outside of Asantes borders. Very close to Asantes pride indeed.
