I love her design and how she looks. She reminds me a bit of Tree Hugger based on the hairstyle. Can I ask, what inspired you to make her? Inspiration can come from many things, but knowing what really sets the mood for me.

it should be obvious that I don't. everything I know about it was told to me by friends.

Then your based on minimal knowledge that doesnt really permit you to grasp why it wouldnt be stupid.
Best thing I can honestly say is, the shows demographic was aimed at children, and has expanded much more than originally intended because of clever writing and a very well put together show.Β
Id highly recommend giving it a shot before passing down judgement on anything.Β
Because its not a horse movie, where the ponies are normal animals who have humans, no its a universe where there are no humans and animals talk.Β

I'm not one to watch an entire show just to judge if it's stupid or not. from what I've heard, it is, in my opinion. if you disagree, that's your opinion. I'm also not one to argue such trivial matters online.
one thing you should keep in mind about me is, that I was raised with eastern European cartoons like "pat and mat". they were very well written, logical (the things you witnessed in said show could actually happen), humane, and very hilarious. I highly doubt a show about talking ponies can ace that.
you do have a point though, that I should watch an episode to see if it's truly stupid or not. since you clearly know the show better than me, perhaps you can give me the link to the best episode of the show (or at least name the episode so I can look for it myself)? that will allow me to judge for myself.

Id recommend episodes 1 and 2. They are what got most of my friends and family hooked. I grew up without mlp and other things. I grew up with things like Flight of Dragons, Gnomes, Gallivants, Rock-a-doodle, Land before time, Last Unicorn and so on. Much different then the cartoons they feed kids today, MLP FIM doesnt teach the audience like they are 5 years old and therefor entertaining for everyone.Β
And no, pretty much everything I grew up with wasnt very logical. It was magical (like dragons) but it really helped my imagination fly and it taught me alot of big words.Β
I hope you find the show enjoyable when you find the time to give it a go~

Most of the 80's cartoons actually contained a wider vocabulary than most of the modern day cartoons. Though thats another pleasant thing about MLP, it does use big words even in the songs. ^u^
