I know I should be doing other things...
I wanted to draw something expressing a darker side with Requiem, and also tying in a bit with the comic once ~Alison-lynn and I get things up and running with that. Suppose you could consider this a teaser in some ways for that story.
It also was an excuse for me to get some practice with explosions so I will have a better chance of not messing up when I do the coloring for the said comic.
Ahhh Requiem, you look awfully pleased with the destruction of armada property, you little monster.

Just to confirm, Req has lighter irises and the sclera is darker? If so, that makes an interesting contrast. He looks a bit devilish here.

Indeed they are For Rec the sclera is a dark blue, appears black in some lighting but is actually a very deep blue. While the irises are a pale silverish grey with a small amount of blue tossed in there as well. Does give him a bit of a devilish tone doesn't it? Never meant it to when I first designed him though I suppose it does work for the benefit in images like this. 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
I think the angle has a lot to do with it, but he certainly does have a devilish look to him. Sorta suits him though. And I'm all for destroying Irken property. Because explosions.

Oh my gawd those eyes o-o;...
Most of the times, pictures where the focal point is in the middle bore me. However, the way you set the bars off center and the dark to light shading down the hallway, makes it's really hard to actually see this as a centered image. I really like how that worked out.
The blending of those flames... omg not even sure what to say. They're amazing. If I ever need an explosion for a picture then I might be using this as a reference.
Probably the only thing I'm questioning in this image is his antennae. You have really dramatic shading in here, yet his antennae are still a solid black. In a lot of irken pictures this just makes things easier, but with this face so close and the focal point, I'd almost like to see him fully shaded.
Those are my opinions take em or leave em.

I do tend to do eyes a bit differently then the average IZ artist, though it does allow some rather dramatic effect with coloring I agree with you there, setting the focal point of the image in the center can make an image appear bland and uninteresting. Off centering my composition though can can be a way to keep the composition interesting and intriguing to the eye rather then dull and unimaginative. I was experimenting with something new :I I haven't really done many explosions before, so I thought i would test my luck with them. I agree with you some solid black antenna are a bit odd compared to the rest of the image that is shaded and colored more complexly. Unfortunately, through my experience with coloring several different images. I find that when I try to shade or add more depth to the antenna it looks ..odd off set and awkward. Just plain out of place, hence why I opted to leave them plain black this time around. Though I do understand what you are saying about the shading, unfortunately I do find that plain black is better compared to a overly noticeable shading and lighting job on the antenna.
I guess that makes sense on the antennae. Glad I could help.
