While Griffith may seem manipulative and has a big ego, I think he actually did love Charlotte. While she was a princess and he would see her as a way to get closer to getting a kingdom since every king needs a queen, I truly think he started falling for her because of her innocence and how she see's him with so much admiration, she probably reminded him of himself when he was young before his own innocence was taken like how he saw himself in Guts because they were strong fighters.
And when Guts beat him and left him, he felt completely destroyed and went to Charlotte. People say him sleeping with Charlotte was a way for him to feel dominant and powerful again, but I think it was for him to feel good about himself and be confident again and Charlotte makes him feel good and special since she loves him and adores him, even though it was sort of in vain since he still remembers losing a friend. Besides sleeping with a virgin princess as a low nobleman had serious consequences, while it was a moment of weakness for him to do that he still took that chance for Charlotte when he could have went to a whore house or when to Casca.
And she stayed by his side after being tortured by her father and was disfigured before Femto took over. She shows him true love and I'm sure Griffith is forever grateful to her for it.

More like you just really like guts and Griffith together and maybe you should also be a bit more respectful of other peopleβs opinions.

That I agree with, but I also see that Griffith wanted power and control as well and would do whatever it took and he has hurt everyone in the process, raping casca and killing his crew and causing guts to go insane.
I see griffiths story also being about what controlling people for your own benefit has severe consequences.

That is exactly how I interpret their relationship is like.
Or at least, WAS like. Now that he's a Godhand, I'm pretty sure he doesn't give a damn about her as a person. He just cares about the throne and his own gain.
It just reminds me how much I miss the original Griffith.

Same, when Godhand took over Griffith was gone.
He's now inside Guts and Casca's son.

And Griffith's suffering as well when he first got that Medallion as a kid. Griffith was a slave to it and prostituted himself and harmed himself because of it.

Such a tragic villain.
As much as I love Guts, I kinda think it was his fault not explaining to Griffith why he wanted to leave the Band. All he said was "I'm going, and that's it." Maybe if Guts had tried to explain, maybe things wouldn't have turned out so bad and it wouldn't have resulted in a fight.

Indeed, he paid the ultimate price for power.
I'm not so sure, Griffith is stubborn and made it clear to Guts he belongs to him, so even if Guts explained Griffith would still refuse to let him go. While they are kind of friends, Griffith for the most part saw people as property.

I wouldn't say that Griffith thought that. He only said to Charlotte that he didn't consider the members of the Band of the Hawk his friends. He purposely distanced himself from his men so he wouldn't be distracted. He understood his dream was a bloody one, but he preferred the safety of his men over having them die. But he didn't want to fraternize with his men because he believed that the emotional attachment would weaken him.
The only reason he chose to throw the Hawks to the wolves in the Eclipse was because he was in a very vengeful state of mind after having been tortured for a whole year. He was angry at the world, and ultimately didn't care who he hurt anymore. And he blamed Guts the most for it. I think that when Void was describing what the price was, Griffith was considering his options, though. But when Guts showed up, that was the last straw. Ultimately, he blamed Guts for all the terrible things that happened in the Eclipse. So he chose to throw away his men's lives.
Also, remember when Griffith did this, he lost his ability to experience feelings. But before he lost those feelings, he regretted what he'd done before he died and was reborn as Femto. Griffith died in the Eclipse. He came out someone else.

That's the only thing I can actually like about Femto: helping her become queen.
Question though is, is this: can Griffith be brought back?
π: 0 β©: 1
Mahogany25 In reply to Sky-Kaiser [2019-05-22 22:46:40 +0000 UTC]
Yep, because he turned Charlotte from a sheltered naive girl who was falling prey to her father into a woman who lost her virginity to the man she loves and opened her eyes to what her father was when he tortured Griffith and saw what happened to the country.
That is a good question, the manga writer will have to make a new chapter to see.

Sky-Kaiser In reply to Mahogany25 [2019-05-22 23:49:36 +0000 UTC]
Well, technically, Griffith took Charlotte's virginity and helped her see what kind of a monster the King of Midland was. But Femto helped Charlotte rise to the occasion to become a queen.
As for whether Griffith can be brought back from his dark path might take a while to figure out.

Good point, Griffith made Charlotte find love and saved her from her father, Femto made her a political expert.
Yep, I;m not sure if the manga is still going.

I always saw Akame ga Kill as the "Game of Thrones" anime because characters you love get killed off rather quickly (which is why I ended up really hating that series, both the anime and the manga). So far, none of Guts' companions have died.

True, of course we see the brutal politics in Berserk that are similar to GOT, especially with Griffith prostituting himself and the king wanting to sleep with his daughter,

Yes. Jeez, Griffith must've hated that night with Gennon. Pedophiliac SOB. Just as bad with the King of Midland. At least in the anime and the movies they removed that bit.
