OK. It is a curved glass awning, kind of like an inverted cone. Hard to describe - I will take a wider angle shot this afternoon and show you.

there is some puzzle book my eldest son and i use to like that had these photos of parts of objects and you had to determine what they were- edge of a wrengh etc - interseting how the mind automatically would jump in and try to solve the mysery-hard wired in I guess

Me, too. I cannot look at an abstract photo without trying to puzzle it out. I forgot to take the wide angle shot today. I will do it next week.
