I'm glad I never hate someone for being different. Her design is actually my favorite from the show, even though I don't even watch it.

She is largely the product of interaction with the fanbase, so you can probably imagine that we (the fans) feel very attached to her; especially after they recently acknowledged her name "Derpy" in an episode and gave her a voice.
However, they went back and changed the scene a few weeks later under the reasoning that some people found her appearance offensive. It's obviously not going to have any big impact on the future of mankind, but it just feels wrong.

She is also the Where's Waldo in the MLP series. She is thrown in almost each episode in some way. If they change her appearance, that little joy of finding her is obsolete.
