Brilliant, thanks for the link, you've an excellent gallery, one of the things that really really stand out for me in your work is the way you do eyes, they're wonderful.

yeah, eyes being the main focal point of any portrait, I tend to spend alot of time on them.

The eyes are incredible and the hair oh my... yet there's something 'odd' with her mouth.

her cheek is to big, don't tell my wife, I don't think she has noticed.
Thanks for commenting.

I think the cheeks look fine though I do agree that there seems to be something odd about the mouth. it might look better if you tried to make it darker. the ear also kind of looks weird- but you can finish the hair over that.
but besides that...WOW! the eyes are beautiful, the hair is very well done, and I love the subtleness of the shoulders. it almost puts her into action and gives her a playful nature. She is adorable!
GREAT JOB! I can see why your wife loved it!

hey there, been a while scince anyone has commented on this one, thanks, and thanks for your crit, it's nice to reciev one everynow and then, this is a WIP and you can view the final peice here ~ [link]
I agree totaly about the mouth, everytome I look at this my eye is attracted straight to it, I also think you are right about darkening it, fortunately it is sprayed with workable fixative so I have a bit of leeway, the ear doesnt bother me anywhere near as much as the mouth so I think you might also be on a winner there.
Thanks again

I thought the WIP was talking about her hair...silly me!
the final drawing solves my issues with the ear!
though I still like the subtleness of the shoulders in this one.
anyway...still BEAUTIFUL!

But you are practice my friend, I draw one hour a day, every day. Like I always say, drawing is more of a learned skill than a raw talent.

awesome. what steps did you take to get the hair that good?

OdinPeterson In reply to vega681j [2006-03-25 08:57:59 +0000 UTC]
I dont know really, I just drew it, concentrating on where it darker and lighter.
Wher its darker is wher i start the stroke and just sort of flick the pencil accross the page to the light, do the same in the other direction, and add highlights with a thin slice of eraser and some bluetak.
