Skyfall set claw on the ground once more. He tipped his head up to the clear noon sky and breathed in the breeze that passed him. He listened to the calls and squacks of the birds and the rustling of their flapping wings far ahead of him. A smaller NightWing landed beside him right before a distressed screech.

“Where did you say he was, Moonslayer?” Skyfall asked.

The NightWing paced ahead of him. “Out there on the cliff. He was going for a hawk’s nest.” She fanned out her claws towards the terrain ahead of them.

“He’s desperate then.” Skyfall grinned. “We can get him on our side without a doubt.”

The two trekked onwards through the Claws of The Clouds mountains. At every cliffside, they would search, and swoop away to find another.
Until they heard the crackle of SkyWing fire.

Moonslayer hovered in the air and turned her head to a scarred up SkyWing aiming fire at a hawk. The hawk took flight and the other SkyWing swiped after it. It flitted off effortlessly. He flared his holey wings in its direction.

“There he is.” Moonslayer said. She and Skyfall took flight and landed right behind him.

The other SkyWing turned to his new company and scrambled up on top of a rock. “Who are you? Stay back!” he said with bared teeth.

Skyfall raised up his claws. “We do you no harm. What’s your name?”

The other SkyWing reared back and curled in his claws. “What would I tell you for? You’re just here to finally get me killed, aren’t you? Since I was too weak for those SeaWings at the summer Palace, yeah?"

“Oh! So you were in Scarlet’s army? As was I, in reconnaissance.”

“You are gonna kill me!” The other SkyWing scurried down his place on the rock and slashed at Skyfall. Skyfall swerved aside. While the SkyWing still stood, Moonslayer punched him and he keeled over.

“Okay, so I do you no harm.” Skyfall said when the other SkyWing looked up. “Just listen. I think we can help you out.”

The other SkyWing trudged back to the rock. “What do you want from me?”

“We would like you to join us. And not try to attack us.” Moonslayer said.

Skyfall nodded vigorously. “We can provide sustenance for you, and all you have to do is go after a certain SeaWing for us.”

The SkyWing smiled ever so slowly. “A SeaWing?”

Skyfall and Moonslayer locked eyes for a moment. “Oh, yes," Skyfall replied. "She’s got power that is very dangerous to so many normal dragons like you and me and Moonslayer here. She’s even a threat to the illustrious SkyWing Kingdom! If we take her out, you can restore your honor and engrave your name in history!”

“Skylark, the hero who destroyed the worst dragon to ever live…” Skylark whispered to himself. He hopped off of his rock and walked up to Skylark and Moonslayer.

“I’m in.”

There's my entry for Mythical-Mishmash 's contest, both in illustration and writing! I hope you like it all, Kat. (and I hope you didn't get confused by my Skyfall and your Skylark. Similar names are similar.)

I tried some things with an Overlay layer and got that soft lighting on the dragons because I thought my normal cel shading wouldn't be enough. Hindsight 20/20, I wish I would've gone for a better shot where everyone character is in fullbody so the Skyfall and Moonslayer headshots aren't so squished in there, but I was so into it and I spread out working on this for so long that I decided against it and finished this piece how it was. Ah, well. It is how it is, and I'm not redoing it. XD
