Description
A Dutch Angel Dragon is a sexless being, lacking all concept of sexuality including sexual desire/hormones and any reproductive genitalia… therefore are officially classified as asexual.
The species was originally cited as being gender-neutral/agender because of their lack of sexuality, however sex and gender are indeed separate attributes… so I would like to now make it very clear that yes, Dutch Angel Dragons do in fact have gender identities, gender expressions, and may use any pronoun that you would like. They are often visually/physically androgynous or non-binary, but just as common are those who appear more petite or have larger builds that may give off an impression of being more feminine or masculine. The important thing to know is that their physical appearance does not necessarily reflect their personal or gender identity, nor preferred pronouns.
.
Dutchies are supernatural beings comprised of a magical essence and the flow of energy that resides on a spectrum; it can be more masculine, feminine, or neutral and is the equivalent of gender identity found in humans that is coded into their energies. It is an internal feeling one has, something one was born with that is present in their mind and defines who they are on the inside, regardless and completely independent of how they are physically on the outside. Dutchies can project/share and sense the energies in each other and are more responsive to certain kinds, depending on the individual's own energy and attractions. The “feeling” or vibe a dutch gives off through their energy is used a basis to form bonds with one another. One is encouraged to label this energy with the gender identity and pronouns that they see best fitting of their character.
A dutch that identifies as male can also be affectionate and bond with another identifying male, and the same goes for females. This would be the equivalent to being homoromantic. They can experience non-sexual attractions to any variety of gender identities and expressions. For example, a dutch with a more masculine-expressed physical form could also personally identify as female and be panromantic. They are in general a very open and expressive species.
One of the most unique traits of Dutch Angel Dragons is the ability to alter their form. They can break themselves down into pure energy and reform entirely new. (This is a long, difficult process that will be much more thoroughly explained at a later time, and it is also part of the process for creating new younglings). A dutch can use this ability to adjust their energy, transitioning to a different gender than they were previously, as well as changing their physical qualities (size, build, horns, etc.) and coat markings. They often adopt physical appearances that make them feel more comfortable in their environment or are inspired by designs and colors that appeal to them. The dutch should retain its memories, but can in this way choose to be and express themselves however they see fit.
Another unique attribute of the species is that new younglings can be formed by any bonded dutch, regardless of their gender identity and expression! They simply must go through the reformation together and fuse their energies during the process. All dutch are compatible for fusing. It is also very rare but possible they can become stuck together (resulting in “mutations” such as multiple eyes, ears, tails, wings, etc.) and may become either a split personality or an effectively new dutch with mixed traits from both of its former selves. Though difficult, this can be potentially reversed in time, by regaining the proper levels of energy and going through the transitioning process again.

Dutch Angel Dragon Partnership/Bonding with Another Dutchie
.
Dutchies can form a long-lasting and close bonds with one another, but how they chose to express this and demonstrate affection is different from you and I, primarily because of their anatomy. They lack the want or need to have sexual intercourse and have no hormones driving a need to arouse or reproduce, and their physical attributes direct the natural ways in which they most commonly express this closeness (such as the inability to form their lips to interlock into a human-like kiss so they cannot, nor have no desire to, “make out”. As alternative examples, they may instead lick the face of their partner or nuzzle).
Their love for one another is something far stronger than the interactions humans have because of how in tune they are to one another's energies. It is often a lifetime bonding on a spiritual level where they are constantly projecting and sharing each other’s energy between them and they can use it to help them survive and become stronger. When a dutch becomes attached to something or someone, they will go to great lengths to protect them and seem inseparable. They show their affection in many different but non-sexual ways, often common to what is seen in other feral animals, from grooming each other to sleeping together in huddle. In some rare cases, they will fuse together or create another Dutch Angel Dragon youngling (full info coming soon).
You are more than welcome to call this bonded partnership their mate, spouse, significant other, devotee, etc. This is up to you. However the common name for a dutch relationship is called a “songfilie/songfilies” (song-fil-ee), a word in Aether meaning “two of one soul” in reference to the bonded partnership shared between Dutch Angel Dragons.
.
Fusing, creating new life, and explanations on how their unique energy works are also very big topics I want to explore and make more clear, but there is also a lot of art and writing I need to create to properly present this. It is something I’ve begun working on and will be coming soon, along with even more in-depth details of their bonding partnerships.

Yes! Dutchies can form close bonds with other creatures and physically express closeness to them. Just note that it is not the same kind of close energy/spiritual bond that two Dutch can have.

Is it possible for a Dutch to have a polyamorous relationship? I do not plan for this to happen with my dutch angel dragon, the thought just came to mind as I read this and thought it should be talked about. (I am going to post my reference for my dutch angel as soon as I think of a name. I love the community and I finally decided to make a Dutchie of my own)
