Thank you!! Going to reshoot again. The lighting on the dress is harsh and the black purse does not go

:0 I like how you are able to go from b+w and then to colour makes your gallery all the more varied for it. This pic is so good you need to put a border on it to finish it off. Her hair and skin is captured well and her turning head gives her nice profile. The over exposure on the dress is kinda distracting but does not spoil the overall image. Nice work on blurring the background as it really puts her cute face to the fore. Maybe next time add a small fill flash or reflector to give a catchlight to her eyes. With her looking side on the whites of her eyes are accentuated thus making her eyes look bigger by adding a catchlight they would really pull you inot the pic, you could always add them in photoshop.
The pink band of flower detail on her skirt is just soo cute.
The bag does not work for me everything is light and girlie and there is this black fluffy thing in the foreground. It most probably gave her something to keep her hands interested in but it detracts from the pic.
I see the training is going VERY well if the other kids are helping you out with models

Thanks for the awesome feedback Nathan
Agreed with all of the above.
The girls gave me no artistic control and they got me toshoot it as is and the reflective material of the dress was a challenge.
THe blacl fluff dress was a no no.
I am actuall going to reshoot this one today and get a better exposure.
Have a great day!

Very very nice picture and your daughter is just adorable!!
Well, as things are not always perfect and the idea of critique is improving our talents let me give ya my thoughts on this pic:
1.- The background is perfect and fits the subject really well. The neutral shades make the delicate colors of the subject stand out softly.
2.- Her pose and expression are fantastic. You really had an eye at shooting on the right moment.
3.- The lighting is almost perfect on her face and head. There;s a bit lack of definition on her upper left part of her nosetip.
4.- Things went out of control regarding lighting on her dress. The higly reflective material on the dress make too hard reflections burning down colors. This is the worst thing on the picture and what destorys it;s almost perfct beauty.
As a whole pretty good pic. Next time try better controlling of light placement, using your eye to judge or a spot meter.
Regards!

This is beautiful! The lighting is great and her expression is perfect!! Your kids did a great job of coordinating the backdrop and the clothing--I would have liked to see this without the purse in the foreground--it's a bit distracting. But I LOVE this--especially since your kids are so enthusiastic--I wish I had been doing this 10 years ago with my kids..you are giving yours a lifelong appreciation for a wonderful art form!

You are very welcome!! I have a daughter who is 18 (at UBC), a son 16 (he going for his drivers N tomorrow --eek), and a 15 year old daughter. My two blond daughters are in my gallery---they model for me--but I am trying to bribe my son--I think he's melting! I do wish I had been doing portraits like this when my kids were your kids' ages!
