Description Faces of all that's said and done
Faces of children, crying out from the womb
Fighting, fighting to break free
To change this world
To kill the bland
To end hunger and resume teaching

Faces of light and dark
Faces of war, remnants of peace
Scattered in monotone
On the walls of the self-righteous
Inspiring a slight frown
But becoming normalcy as the days go by
Because suffering becomes background noise
When you don't have to live it

Faces of prejudice
Faces of innocents, judged by the color of their skin
Marching the streets of Birmingham
Of Memphis, of Little Rock, of Washington DC
Trying to change the minds of the war pigs and the bigots
That made it a crime to be born something different

Faces, of all colors, of all shapes
Of all backgrounds and all beliefs
Populate this world, and sometimes faces clash
But those faces are building the bridges
That we burned yesterday
When we soaked them in gasoline and said "fuck it"
When we hated the world and let the greedy run it
When we put our blinders on and fought for nothing

Faces that look much like ours are fighting our wars
They're bleeding our blood
They're singing our songs
And redefining the word "passion" a million times over
So when you walk down the street and you see faces
Know that there are great minds behind them
With ideas that are beyond our own

Now look in the mirror

I particularly like "suffering becomes background noise
When you don't have to live it" So true of society, also known as "bugger you Jack I am OK"
Good to see a young person feeling what has not been voiced often enough these last decades.
Perhaps a sign that the "me-generation" is at an end? Hope so

Thank you very much. Yeah, I don't relate to others my age on much of anything. Then again, I grew up much differently. I'd like to think that I see the world as it truly is, and that terrifies me, but I'm not about to close my eyes just to avoid the horror.

Seeing things as they are is definitely not a common skill nor one most could handle, you will often walk alone but at the end of day it does not matter.
My one consolation is everything changes ,societal life seem to work like a pendulum.
A number (too many ) things come to mind, sayings like
"Be careful of seeking enlightenment, you may achieve it"
and stories of the tigers and the strawberry, but one of the simplest the story of the monk and "is that so?"
Great value in many of these old stories.
Mainly I like to be the rock with the sea washing around and over me but not moving or being affected by it , rarely get it right though
I'll stop myself before appearing a total nutter - which brings to mind a swathe of other sayings to live by LOL
