Description
A human being that was given to fly. What is this Photogrpah to me?
For me personally it's the idea of these emotional ups and downs that I have experienced thus far in my lifetime. It's the idea of overcoming that trend and transcending beyond those emotions. The fact that the body is already at the bottom of the stairs signifies where I have been for a bit emotionally speaking. I look at it more as a self reflection. It's sometimes hard to swallow the idea that our emotions hinder us in so many ways from becoming all that we can will ourselves to be, however without these emotions we would not be able to take our ideas to an artistic level.

i feel like i am on my bottom step right now.
however, i like the way you have the light radiating from the figure, and the rest of the background is dull and drab--almost lifeless. and your figure seems to be hanging there, almost floating. maybe at a medium between staying or going on to this other world. marvelous work here! keep it up.

When I first looked at the photo, which is, by the way, amazing, I saw the subject walking down the stairs into a great white light. The light is similar to that which I would normal label as "heavenly," and which, as someone stated before, I would immediately associate with up as a direction, rather than with down. And that still stands, but I then noticed that the staircase turns to the right, and the subject is not descending into this light, but he is heading straight into it. I know you probably didn't intend for that and meant for him to be descending, but it caught my eye and I think it really adds to the photo. Instead of him ascending or descending into a light, he is walking straight into the light... on the same horizontal plane as the middle landing on which he stands. That brings the whole supernatural/heavently concept onto the natural and human plane. I love this. Great job.

Impressive, indeed. I really don't know how to say this, but here goes nothing: I'm struck by the fact that he decended the stairs instead of ascended... an image like this leads me to believe that he's not of this earth and supernatural or something which immediately makes me think "up" instead of "down"...
but then again, I guess the lighting was better below.

That's really deep, and looking at this again, I can see where you're coming from.
I think you're right - emotion raises the level of art. No question about that.

Incredible lighting. The contrast and variation of tones is really great, especially on the stairs themselves. Awesome job!

How you have got it figured out for the light here is pretty stunning. Very good to look at. Say a whole lot as far as emotions go.
Wonderful.

i tried commenting on this just an hour ago or so, but devart was weird and wouldn't let me. it told me that this deviation doesn't exist, and really it was gone for a while. well, i hope it works now *g*
i'm glad this pic is back online, and even more glad that you're back here to submit such wonderful pics.
the pose, the location, the light- everything just fits so well together, great picture... definitly a +fav
btw, is it just me or did you submit a different pic taken in exactly this location? somehow these stairs just seem so familiar...

Thank you for the wonderful comment. I had to change some things and that is why it was gone for awhile. As far as the shooting location goes, I actully took "Long Road" on these same stairs.I just love the way the light comes in and the texture of the walls. Thanx again for the comment

hm, selfless confession also seems to be taken at this spot....
I don't think I'd have noticed what a great background/location for photos these stairs are, i'd have just passed them without any second thoughts about them...
with those pics you expressed 3 totally different feelings, created 3 absolutely distinct moods, even though always using the same elements- the stairway, the amazing way the light falls into it, and one person (always the same one too, isn't it?)...
if i'd have any money i'd buy those three as prints and hang them up next to each other... but... seeing that i got no money to spend, and no good place to hang up the prints, i'll just have to wait a bit
