As far as the public and Lightflash are aware, they're the only kid of legendary racing prodigy Rainbow Dash. With spotlights consantly on their mother, preassure was high to see Lightflash carry that legacy.

Yeah they didn't want to do that, flying never really catching their eye like their mother from a young age, and the preassure to be an athlete from pegasus society just never sat right with them. They voiced these opinions very publicly, and often ended up being cast away from other foals as a result, many even questioning if they were truly a Wonderbolt's fan when you didn't even like the sport. Rude! They never missed a show if they could! And studying your mother's shows gave you advantage when discussing how to improve them . Rainbow Dash never stood by this, supporting her kid through and through.

That doesn't mean there weren't attempts to get their interest in flying going, and in one of the flight camps they met also a Wonderbolt's kid Havoc Charge , the two quickly became friends and inseparable, and with Lightflash's keen eye for precision and Havoc's natural flight power they were an unstopable duo in their childhood and teens. They treat each other almost like the sibling neither of them ever had growing up. While Lightflash never developed the flight talent, they did achieved a sport reporter position in the Cloudsdale Sunday for their fantastic analizis on flight pattern strategy, which eventually led them to working as a columnist under the Ponyville Gazette, which they continue to work under.

Because of their work, it's very easy to notice when something is brewing, ponies have discouraged themselves from entering the Everfree, and now guards from the Empire are stationed in what was previously a non occupied town? They respect them certainly, their mother is a Wonderbolt and their best friend plans to become one! But it's certainly strange, and Lightflash is determined to get to the bottom of the situation.

The Ignorant and the Common Pony

Recently in my travels through our lovely town I found myself face to face with the Crystal Guards, being unable to help myself off a good chat, I commented on their recent arrival. More curious than worried, considering their sudden appearance in our cozy little legacy town. I don't fret as much as I should, as you know my mother being Rainbow Dash has instilled in me to put in better words a lack of fear in common sense in part with my peers. But I know that many are locking themselves in their homes with wariness about their intimidating appearance.

A chat with them was much needed then. Both to quell my curiosity and calm your minds dear readers. Their word carried with a sense of security yet youthfulness I would expect from them, especially seeing their captain: “We were sent by Her Majesty Celestia herself to calm the crowds” the guard told me, and I had to check my back in case a crowd had formed when I wasn't looking “It's standard, to assure the citizens everything is fine”.

Many of you probably recall a story your parents, your school, even your tour guides gave you, and others probably were present; the rise of Nightmare Moon, our currently beloved Princess Luna, how she was saved by the six wonderful ponies that embodied the elements of harmony, the takeover of the Lord of Chaos Shadowing pur town, now Discord whom I even occasionally see when visiting my aunty Fluttershy, need I also remind you the destruction from the Everfree onto our little town?

Certainly we have been blessed to not experience chaos or destruction for many years, I myself have never witnessed it. But I ask myself why would the guard come all of a sudden to quell a crowd but not tell us from what? We are not ignorant to the recent rumors, I was given an intense guide on where not to fly by our Element of Loyalty herself. The lack of trust our rulers put on us is frankly insulting in some ways, and tiring. Is it for the benefit of the citizens to be unaware of what is happening?

Those were the thoughts that raced through me, a million I know, when the words of the guard were clear, I asked then “Why send a whole regiment and the fourth in command of the Empire?”, and their response gave me the worry I often miss and an understanding of the common citizen's perspective; “Don't worry about it”.

I thanked them and left for home, and that's where I find myself writing this, petting my mother's turtle and loyal companion Tank. And I think back on all those incidents I was lucky to avoid, all those trials you've faced without us young ponies and now we find ourselves maybe in a silly one, but was the lack of recognition from our government the right choice? Was their reliance on ponies that never asked of this burden a moral thing to do? My mother has expressed she would do it all again, and I thank her for the battles I will never have to fight, but I also think of you who never got answers at the moment and we're left in shadows, in a chaos ridden land, of the destroyed town being left to rebuilt and never getting answers until the trouble has passed. Shouldn't we get to decide the gravity of the situation instead of being pushed away from the light? We are not children and we are not ignorant of our history. I ask the Princess to stop treating the people as such and I ask you to do the same if possible.

Lightflash currently doesn't have that much story previously to what is happening, they are the least angst filled child, I enjoyed writting their column a lot ngl, but I'm not here to talk about that I'm breaking the wall to talk about their redesign.

I changed their coat colors because I was not vibing with those, and I think it helps the mane stand out more! The cutiemark gave me a lot of struggle but I'm really happy how they turned out, especially with their daily clothes, look at them in their nerd accesories and with a big camera bag I feel ya Light. Also friendship bracelet from Havoc because yes.
