In the original Barrie play, there is an early instance of audience participation. Tinkerbell had been banished earlier for having a hit job attempted on Wendy, but came back,discovering that somebody had poisoned Peter's drink. If she tried to warn him ,she'd be thrown out before she could finish her message. So she - drank the poison and fell down dying. Peter, realizing her sacrifice, calls on the audience to will her back to health. She revives. I always found this scene rather embarrassing to me.
Tinkerbelle was just a babylight on the stage *, and in the original Pooh books, Roo was just a tiny rudimentary thing, not the adorable joey in Disney's films.
In my Oz story, CASPER IN OZ, the wisps get involved, and, like the original Tinkerbell ,were points of colored light. Their emotions determined the color of the lights.
