I was used Painter 2020, mainly using the thick paint brushes with the thick paint texture turned off. Β These brushes are the best I know of, but the thick paint texture is difficult to manage (and often looks gimmicky).

Thanks for that suggestion.Β I did blur the edges of the apples, but I was unsure how far I should go.Β I will try your suggestion.Β What I call thick paint texture is actually called thick paint "amount" in Painter and the default can be set in settings and then adjusted on a layer per layer basis.
