Description
Yet another Life-Like product of the late 1990s, this is the last of the diesels I had as a kid. Much like Bachmann, Life-Like painted its models in some nice, but not wholly accurate paint schemes. The F40PHs were built by EMD in 1975 for Amtrak, the nationalized passenger carrier here in the US. In later years, some were sold off to other railroads, but not to the Union Pacific. The model again is quite basic, but a good point to start with the hobby. This one though is in bad need of tire work. The rubber traction tires are completely missing and I'm in need of new ones. I hate traction tires for this very reason. Regards. P.S. When out buying used models, always bring a 9-volt battery with you. The contacts of the battery pressed against the wheels will give you an indication if the motor runs or not. So long as both adjacent wheels pick-up power from their respective rails.Related content
