Story:

Madi honestly didn’t mean to go hunting for another ballator. She flew to Laos with Auroro Ignis to visit with some friends she had made at a show a while back, and as soon as they touched down in the airport, all they heard about was the “heavenly mare” that had been spotted up in the mountains. After visiting with her friend Kaya and her ballator Forgo for an afternoon, riding through fields and other movie-type scenes, her friend finally called her out.
“I can tell that mare, Rose is what people are calling her, has been in your head all day” Kaya said as they were walking down the road. The ballator beneath her snorted and rolled his eyes.
“She can’t be talking, I’ve been up in those mountains for hours recently trying to track Rose down for my human” the stallion said to Dawn.
“I’m not surprised, I’m sure mine will want us to head up there later too” Dawn laughed.
“Okay, maybe she has. I’ve seen a couple pictures of her Kaya, and she’s absolutely gorgeous! I’ve never been overly crazy about asiatics” she paused as Forgo snorted grumpily, his tightly curled manes puffing. “Oh hush Forgo, you know I love you” she added to please the stallion, “I want to take her in and love her and give her as much room, freedom, treats, human attention, whatever as she could want in life!” Madi gushed out quickly, a blush spreading across her cheeks from her outburst.
“I know how you feel. Go give it a try! I was never able to spot her up there, but I think I just was never in the right place. We can go back to my home and I’ll give you some oranges to take with you!” Kaya said in heavily accented english.
“Uhh, why oranges?” Madi asked as they ran the rest of the way to Kaya’s house at the base of the mountains.
“She loves them! Many people bring them to try and lure her out, although she’s very sly” Kaya said, swinging off Forgo’s back to run inside and grab a couple of the small oranges. “Good luck hon, and if you manage to convince her to come back with you, you better bring her back here so I can meet her!” Kaya said with a teasing smile as she handed Madi the fruit.
“Of course Kaya, you would be the first person I tell” Madi laughed, pocketing the food before turning Dawn in the direction of the mountains with wave behind her at Kaya’s rapidly shrinking form.

Dawn and Madi had been trekking through the mountains for a couple hours before Dawn caught the hint of Rose’s smell. “Bingo” the ballator muttered, lowering her head as she trotted along the trail. Madi kept scanning their surroundings, marking down on a small folding map she had of where they were and what they saw.
“Let’s stop at this stream up here Dawn, it’s hot and we can use a break” Madi told her mare, pointing ahead to the rolling water.
Dawn happily complied, walking into the stream until the cool water tickled her stomach. Madi giggled but pulled her feet up, not wanting to get soaked as Dawn cooled off.
“Okay, ready to get me on some dry land now hon?” Madi asked, nudging her back to shore. Once on land, Dawn lowered her head to graze a bit as Madi stretched out and peeled one of the oranges Kaya had given her, popping a couple sections in her mouth.
“I hope Rose wasn’t wanting both of these” Madi giggled, leaning forward to pat Dawn’s neck when across the stream, a figure was breaking through the tree line. Dawn froze and lifted her head, her and Madi staring ahead silently as Rose walked calmly from the trees. Madi’s jaw dropped when she looked at the wild mare.
“Absolutely beautiful” Madi muttered, and Rose lifted her head to look at them. “Look at you, your manes aren’t even a wild curly mess. You’re so stunning” she oogled. Dawn sighed and kept her eyes on the ballator calmly.
“I’m Dawn! It’s nice to see you!” Dawn called to her softly. “My human here is absolutely obsessed with you. She’d always have mandarin oranges for you, and she could fill a field for you full of roses matching your color, or whatever you’d like!” Dawn paused before continuing on. “You wouldn’t have to deal with humans even, if you didn’t want to. There are plenty of other ballators at home who don’t come in contact with them at all… I think you’d like it there” Dawn said, giving Rose a smile as Madi leaned forward eagerly to watch the wild mare.
“I want to give you a good home Rose! I promise you’ll love it there!” Madi cooed, her toes tingling in anticipation as to what the mare would do.
