I loved this movie. I was shocked to find out it was a sequel to "Resolution" which I had seen years prior, yet when they get to the house where Resolution is set and meet the junkie and his friend I immediately remembered them and lost my mind.

That's so cool!
I'll have to look for that movie too.
Yeah, The Endless had me thinking of all the different happenings that were never really explained... which is good and may lead to another in the series.
Thanks again for the heads up about the prequel!

I would say that The Endless actually manages to stand on its own rather well despite technically being a sequel. But if you've seen Resolution then some things in The Endless feel like great little nods to the previous film. Plus it's just as weird and mysterious as The Endless.

And yet, Lovecraft never could understand who REALLY should be feared, nor why. Too much time with his friend, "Mr. Charming."

At some level, he was knee deep in the fear and madness...

Only what he would accept of reality ^_- he got the foreground while missing all the background.

Even though I like the works of Lovecraft, his concept of us only being an accident or cosmic joke to be toyed with doesn't totally paint the complete picture of reality.
What's interesting is that not all of his tales have totally bleak outcomes.
Some humans fought on and had victories.
Given that Cthulhu was actually beaten and sent to the bottom of the sea under the Elder Sign presents some hope for mankind.
I always thought some sort of understanding might be achieved with the Elder Things, the Great Race of Yith or some of the other powerful beings that walk the stars.

I liked the movie categorized as Lovecraftian style, especially due to how it left much to your imagination, without becoming yet another gore fest. The above is a peek at what I imagined...
