Description
While the most famous fossil of dinosaurs locked in combat is the one of the Velociraptor and Protoceratops, another one was discovered in 2006 in Montana, USA that consists of a Triceratops locked in battle with a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex/ Nanotyrannus lancensis. The specimen is extremely well preserved, having almost intact skeletons and possibly even internal organs and skin impressions. But even though it was of huge scientific value it has been the subject of a long-lasting legal debate over property rights of the fossil. Because that's America where stuff found on your land isn't apparently yours even if its scientific value is immense and you can just sell it to a private collector who could blow it up if he wanted to. The ranchers owning the land this fossil was found have tried many times to sell it but were unsuccessful because no one was rich enough and so no one has seen or studied it in years. But recently in 2020 the Montana Supreme Court ruled that the fossil cannot be considered a mineral and so finally a museum got its hands on the dueling dinosaurs, an it's getting displayed in two years. Finally, we have them back. Now we can settle the Nanotyrannus debate. And we can finally study it.Too bad the universe decided that to get this fossil we hadn't to abandon Stan the Tyrannosaurus. Damn you Discovery`s Dino Hunters.

This was debunked years ago when a young Tyrannosaurus rex was discovered to had a tooth count less than nanotyrannus but had more than tyrannosaurus.
