this is beautiful.
i love the carribean water, looks so intriguing with that dark rusty dock in the image. The reflections were very well captured, along with the angle.
very nice work here. nice composition.

Beautiful contrast of color, light and texture. I think the relatively narrow dof works perfectly here

Beautiful. The bird on the post looks like it's standing in mid air nice colours.

The whole ocean in shadows and the sun shining only on Olya? Looks it.
This is nice, would look better with the foreground in focus.

this is something i'd expect to see hanging in a holiday inn, very nice photograph I hope you weren't out on that run down jetty. I love all the different tones of blue, specialy where the deep part of the water is. What kind on bird is that, Is it a seagull?

look at those insane shades of blue!!! they contrast so nicely with the reds in the wood - just a gorgeous image
canNOT get over those defined segments of blue in the water

this is simply screaming the word "caribean" because of the colors and the roughness of that structure
The coloration is spot-on. I really like how the warm colors of the wooden structure compliment the cool colors from the sea, which range from blues to greens. I really really like that.
That seagull there really needs to be there. It's like he landed there because he saw a blond woman taking a picture and it thought "hoooo haaah, another tourist with a camera! let me be on the picture!" And the sucker landed just where it would be highly contrasting with the background!
In this picture, i really like the composition. I think it's worth mentioning this because a lot of the latest pictures that you showed me, i was not keen on the composition, usually because of cropping issues. But this one is just perfect, and it looks af if you had all the time in the world to take this wonderful picture.
PS: If you have a lot of pictures from cuba, but don't feel like submitting all of them as separate deviations, you could make a collage, and i'd be more than happy to help compose it

The bird almost doesn't look real!
I'm impressed...very lovely!
And I even saw the bird in the thumbnail!
Going back to something you said in your journal, I love this picture for what it is...a picture of powerful waves and a bird at the end of the pier. Textures and focus, yeah, that's all well and good.
What I love is that this is really pretty. To me, that's what was important.

The focus is nice, I like how the foreground is slightly out of focus, it encourages the viewer to focus on the main focus of the photo (woo lots of focusing). The rusty type stuff and paint on the benches is great, it brings about some nice colours, and they really benefit from the sharpness of the photo.
The sea looks great, I really like the colours in it, does the dark blue colour mean the floor is covered in that reef stuff?
The post sticking out of the sea is a nice touch, and the bird on it is great! Look at the colours on the bird! They are beautiful. Also, the patterns on the bird's body are graet. I'm glad they are so clear to see.
A clam and refreshing photograph!

There's such a great feeling to this photo. I'm not sure if it's just the fact that I'm no where near water that beautiful, and am easily impressed, or the wonderful colours on the wood that contrasts the ocean so well. Either way, this is a great photo.
Couple things that are a bit awkward would be the focal point of the photo. Though I thought that it looked like the focus would be on the bird, it seems like the main clarity happens just before or just after that point. As well, it's kind of a distance point to focus in on, and the blurry part in the front kind of distracts a bit from the rest of the photo. A little bit of grain on the sky as well, but that can't be helped much.
Lovely photo, Olya. Loving all the photos that you still manage to sneak in from cuba.

thank you!
i am 100% sure that focus is on the bird.
maybe it moved or something, i can detect a hint of blurryness.
i have another photograph with very similar composition where the focus is on the rust upclose and bird is totally blurry. i liked it, but i *knew* that all comments are going to be "why isn't the bird in focus?". so i posted this one. i'm still not sure if i made the right choice!
thank you for the informative comment, though. i'm glad that you have shared my doubts and thoughts on this photograph - at least i was starting to go the right way! hehehehe.
