A repaint I did for one of my older milestones which I made 6 years ago. I tried to stay true to the original as well as I could, using the same perspective, symmetry and design (or lack thereof to be honest). The subtle similarities you put between them is on point and amazing. The longer I look, the more layers I see and realise thereβs a hell of a lot going on.
Look at their stance, almost mirrored, the horns and the magic in their hands, hell, what they are wearing!
I never realized how alike they were in wow till I see them side by side like this.

For years I always consider Illidan to be an anti-hero. But a lot of WoW fans have labeled him as a villain because of his actions in Warcraft III and The Burning Crusade. I think he always had his heart in the right place but often accomplished his goals through very sinister means. I am glad despite all the mistakes Blizzard made over the years with his character, specifically the retcons in Burning Crusade. That they ultimately gave him a chance to shine in Legion, and be the jailer to one of if not the greatest evil Azeroth has ever known. In the end, despite all of the horrible things he's done, I am sure he still loved his brother, even if he never admitted it. And I am see that bond in this artwork captured so perfectly. And I am sure his ultimate sacrifice of his freedom in Legion is a testament to that idea.
Thank you for making this, and showing the fans a more positive side of the Stormrage brothers that a lot of people overlooked.

Couldn't have agreed more, I really loved his character in WC3 when he was much more chill and soft spoken, his WoW counterpart is an always angry edgelord that seems to growl everytime he speaks. They changed a fan favorite ant-hero to an angry MMO boss, and even in Legion, his redemption storyline seemed more like fan fiction and for some reason there was zero interaction between him and his brother / Tyrande, so much wasted potential.

Absolutely, while apart of me is happy to see that Illidan was the key to destroying the Burning Legion. Showing that his methods, no matter how radical or morally questionable, has some worth when it came to stopping the Legion in a permanent way. At the same time, considering how beautiful his last interactions with his brother Malfurion at the end of the Frozen Throne Night Elf Campaign. It makes me wish Blizzard had the balls to kill him off for good by Arthas's hands at the end of the Undead Frozen Throne campaign. Like it was implied in that bad ass in game cutscene.

You've made insane progress. New version is just mindblowing. The athmosphere you made with using a lot of blues and purples, the silhouettes of Archer and Myrmidon beyond the brothers, their facial expression - Malfurion's serious face and Illidan's ironic smile - everything is stunning.
