Description Here is a project that I did along side of my class I teach at Seneca College in Toronto.

It's a painting of an ocelot based off of a photo. If i find the link, I'll post it.

The goal was to simply recreate a photo of an animal with fur in CS5 as a warm up. They were given a gratuitous amount of time to work on it so that they can get comfortable with the software.

Some of my fans have decided to try some of my assignments.

Hope you enjoy this!

CS4 about 3 hours.

Good god this is crazy!
I'm assuming you used the original image as a reference background layer... but still!
I'm awful at using my tablet/PSCS4... so I really need to practice. XD

How long did it take you to do this piece?

No i did not, i drew the thing out and painted it using reference, nothing cheap like that at all.

I not only liked it.
I am eager to study in your class, but I live too far from Canada.
The design of furry animals really appeals to me, but so far have not done any in-depth study on the topic. I think it is because I stay many years without drawing and have lost interest.
Well, the design is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was only mildly impressed by this... right up until I saw "THREE HOURS" down at the bottom there. Jeez. This would take me several days. I'm guessing you strayed away from the hard round here.

as a teacher, have you ever had students whom you thought had talent better than yours?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Omar-Dogan In reply to Bryar33092 [2012-09-08 20:56:20 +0000 UTC]

Of course, and i want it to be the case. I mean art is relative and subjective to so many things making it hard to judge what's better, but some people just got it.

I never put a limit on anyone, and one day i will be replaced regardless. I just try the assignment to see how long it takes and because it's fun.

Has there ever been a time for you where you thought an assignment was not necessary for the course "if you follow a structured lesson plan"?

I am going into the Educational field myself, but concentrating on Middle School Science and Mathematics. As a science teacher, I am going to have to be creative with presenting the different criteria in the curriculum, so I was just wondering how you deal with those irksome situations.

As long as the learning outcome is met as per the Ministry standard, i can change the course outline almost at will.
