What is your thought process when coming with characters like this?
Do you think of the whole story/world/background, or approach with a more visual direction?

well I like anime so much, shows like samurai champloo or naruto are a huge source of inspiration for me, it is well known that you need to know the background of the character you want to create, but some other times I just like to come with what I must love to, for example, clothing, fashion, wrinkles, and stylized characters n_n 
just the way you made all your badass beautiful naruto characters!

Aw yeah!!!! Champloo is probably the all-time no.1 anime for me.
That's cool you can come up with such a convincing and unique design like this by just drawing what you want to draw!
