Description
A darter was posing obligingly so I thought it would be a good time to get all those wing pose photos I always need but can never seem to find. Download for lots of detail (warning, large file). For photos of the same bird from the side and front see Wing Reference Part 2 .
Feel free to use this for non-commercial artistic purposes, linkback and credit are expected if this is traced or photomanipped, but not needed (though still appreciated) if it is just used for reference. If you use this I'd love to see the results, comment here or note me with the link if you want a free fave.
Other photography in my gallery is not stock unless specifically labelled as such.

This was wonderful! I vaguely used it as referenceΒ Moon Tune Commission Β here for the way feathers are laid ontop of each other. Thanks!

That's just super. I especially like the 2nd one down on the left, where you can see what I always call the "finger feathers," the short ones just past the "wrist" joint, portruding. It gives a great view of how those structures work, and of the layering of the primary and secondary feathers.

Thanks.
I was lucky to get such a good opportunity, usually when I see them basking they are on a buoy or in a tree.

Good job being ready for the opportunity when it showed itself!
