I have been asked by many how this image is so clean at 1600iso.
Thats a natural reaction but the answer is simple in this case, let me explain:
It's important to understand that noise primarily becomes visible in the shadows. Keeping this in mind I knew I needed to completely underexpose the shadows. This alone eliminated a majority of the noise in the image.
As far as highlights go, I spot metered off the front leg and dialed up my shutter speed to nail that exposre without blowing any highlights.
Conclusion:Correct highlight exposure in combination with under exposed shadows is a golden technique for capturing images like this.

I was actually in boston tonight (last night) shootin with my old EOS with the new fisheye lens i got...it was fun, im in the darkroom printing right now. Once I get myself a 5D ill feel a lot better tho. Equipment isnt everything in photography, but it's a damn big part...
