The giant fish were among several marine animals enlarged to giant size, thanks to recent volcanic eruptions and a mysterious underground substance emerging from Capaldi Island; a relatively young formation which itself was created by the aforementioned geological activity. Giant blue fish, a giant sea turtle and a giant starfish are briefly seen by Dr. Quinn and Brock as they descend to uncover the cause of the Macro-Beasts. The giant tropical fish plays a vital role in the discovery of the Super-Food mutagen as it is witnessed increasing in size by Dr. Quinn and Brock. Other members of its species can be seen in the coral corral. The giant goldfish differed from the rest of the Macro-Beasts as it was found aboard the Calico, where Dr. Quinn fed it the Super-Food; it was quickly reverted to its normal size after being exposed to ice water. Giant white fish, tuna and barracuda are briefly seen as Dr. Quinn and Pete are relaying information from the Mini-Copter to Captain Major and Brock. A giant swordfish was seen along with giant sharks and macro squids as they were being corralled into the Coral Corral be Capt. Major and Brock. Giant red fish, yellow fish, tropical blue fish, sailfish and a sea turtle were seen in the final scene when they began to shrink.
