What kind of paint do you generally use on your guns? This gun is really beautiful :]

All sorts.
I avoid the rattle can but a base coat never hurt
Try liquid leaf paint.

And Thanks!

Alright, I think I will try that! Thank you very much for the reply! Normally questions like mine tend to get ignored =_=;;

No problem!

Im gonna give it ago at some point myself, really love the idea of owning something unique, and it will be my first steampunk piece.
Was wondering if maybe when i do it i can get some advice?
The feather piece on top is very stylish, stroke of genius i reckon.

Of course!
Anything in particular?

But, as a generality, use the rattle can sparingly. Hand painting (as long as you take your time and apply several coats) yields a much better end-product.
The aging effect is all trial and error.
Experiment and expect to mess everything up at least once.
I would not advise being so daring as to try your hand on a faux-wood handle for your first few guns.
At least until you get the hang of the ins and outs of the guns and get more comfortable with painting them.

Take everything apart (put screws, springs, and bobs in a labeled bag)
Sand every logo off that you can find
Sand down the whole gun (fine grit paper)
Wash every piece (warm soapy water)
Dry over night (unnecessary parentheses)
base coat (the main colour of the gun)
Layer the paint
Accent paint (any piece you want a different colour)
layer the paint
Seal it (clear coat spray)
DRY OVERNIGHT
re-assemble
test

...party?

It's beautiful! I've been wanting to do this to a Nerf gun for a long long time. Ugh, I'd never be able to make it as elegant as that.
