Description
This is a personal narrative we had to do, on scratchboard. The whole thing is pretty symbolic, but honestly I don't feel like explaining everything. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it, though. :]...I seem to have a thing for drawing marionettes.
Oh, and the flowers in her hand are pansies, violets, rue, and daisies. There's some rosemary in the ground a little farther off, but a good inch got cut off on every side because my scanner sucks and is too small. D:
When I was working on this in art, like everyone and their mother was all like, "OMFG THAT IS LYKE TIM BURTON". And I was like, "NOES. D:" I guess I fail at being original.

yeah, it's already been said.
basically ANYTHING that isn't bright and happy gets "tim burton" as a description because all dark art MUST be his or copied from his, or mister vasquez... which kind of makes me sad. D:

Aww I know! Tim Burton is amazing, but it's not like he's the only 'dark artist' out there. And I really didn't set out to make this very dark in the first place. xD

Oh my gosh, Emily-dearest...
This one is really AMAZING!
I totally envy your scratchboard skills, the art you create with them makes it look so easy. All the little details in the tree and in her dress are totally amazing!
The concept is really cool as well.
I love it all, my dear~
And just so you know...
You're the total oppisite when it comes to failing at being original, okay?

HAMLET ART, WOOOO!!!!! 8D
Even though it's influenced, it's still original, and influences can always develop into something original
I love it and all the detail, just the feel of the whole picture works with the scene you wanted to portray <3

WOOO! 8D It's actually not exactly Ophelia, but all of the flowers the girl's holding are the ones Ophelia's describing when she's going mad. xD So I guess it is Hamlet art. :]
Thank you very much!

Sorry, I've been busy.
I really love the contrast in this! The white on black makes it really interesting to look at. This is just amazing. All the lines are smooth and flow, everything is absolutely perfect. You don't fail at being original- a lot of people are just closed-minded and have to associate things and compare it to another style. I think this is absolute phenomenal. You've outdone yourself completely on this one- everything is just perfect. Wow. *O*

XDD I've seen! >.< I mean, I get kind of pissed off when my watches don't do anything- like no commenting. Though, I understand that every one gets busy. Because I've only just narrowed down all my journals, deviations and messages. XP
You're very welcome! I really do think it's original. I think it's just soooo out there! ^o^

Yeah, I know what you mean. But then, you know, I DO watch like...160 people. xD If an artist is really popular, I sometimes figure they don't need one more comment and I just look. xDD; But if I fave, then I always put a comment with it. :3
Thanks again!

This looks awesome! You don't fail at being original, you have a very distinct style. Everyone will look at someone's art, like part of it, and then incoporate that bit that they like into their own style, giving themselves a style unlike anyone else's. That's what it looks like you've done here.
But, onto the picture! I love the white-on-black here, and the kind of sketchy looks gives it an interesting feel. The detail is really amazing, and the strings attatched to her stuck in the tree makes it seem like she's caught, but the addtion of the wind and the umbrella she's reaching for seems to show that she's trying to get away at the same time. Wonderful work, all-in-all.
