Notorious for his extremely high confidence to anyone that is familiar with him, is severely fueled by it; as well as his mass optimism. Doesn't look before he leaps, or at least doesn't look like he does. Incredibly willed. This proves to be his downfall, if losing, he tends to taunt or laugh even when having his face pummeled in, pushing his limits, absolutely certain he can turn it around no matter the circumstance. Which also, is one of his greater strengths.
If there's a task that needs to be taken care of, Sol is always ready to leap into action. Even before becoming infected, he was always fearless in the face of danger, explaining why he chose such a dangerous position when first getting involved with Eden's military. He's always been big on backing up his comrades; he may be a pest and quick to tease others for being what he perceives to be "underlings", but he cares deeply for others and will go out of his way to assist when necessary.
Since his time in Eden, he has always been a very personable fellow, preferring to mix with everyone over being an elitist jerk like some of the other soldiers he was friends with. He's always been approachable and while his brashness with his outward affection (be prepared for a noogie if you get close enough for him to get you in a head lock). All around, he's a really friendly guy without a judgmental bone in his body. The only real way to etch under his skin would be to badmouth any of his packmates, even the ones he may not be all that close to.

Unfortunately, being as brave as he is also means he doesn't think things through very often. When something dangerous rears its head, he will always be at the front line, poised for attack. He doesn't listen to the words of wisdom from others and will always leap before he looks. He is always the first to admit this bad habit of his, but it's almost as a joke considering he treats it so flippantly, it's like admitting he's got a problem and doing absolutely nothing about it. In his own words, "it's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission."
The "big dumb jock" type, before succumbing to the life of a wastelander; as an officer in Eden, Solitaire was appeared happy in his ignorance and it wasn't until the death of Verity and the reaction that he got after being bitten that he started to really wise up. Although he has remained skeptical, he's still mostly all brawn and little brain.
It’s also probably best not to invoke his temper, as he is known to completely lose his mind. Part of becoming infected has changed his temperament, making him black out when becoming too angry and usually resulting in the a pretty bad scrape from whomever it was that provoked him. On the surface, however, Sol is very chill and not all that much bothers him. It takes a lot of grinding him down to get him that enraged.
He also not the most perceptive guy out there; when he cares for someone, he's very open about it, but on the same token, he will have a hard time seeing anyone elses feelings. If he perceives the psudo-relationship to be one-sided, he will accept it without complaint, but won't know what to do if confronted with real emotions. The only reason Verity was able to reach him was because she was so direct with him. Regardless, they were not together for very long, so it was difficult to know if there really was something there for both of them or if Verity was stringing Sol along.
History:
Prior to becoming infected, Sol was living his life as an Edener; his life on the "inside" was mostly spent training to become a gate guard. He had a family and even experienced his first brush with puppy love toward a female ward. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to see how far their relationship would blossom. The gate guardians received a staticy radio signal from one of the convoys on an expedition to locate and bring back supplies and, by coincidence, Solitaire happened to catch the name of the officers under attack. At the realization that his love had been part of that very day trip, he abandoned his post against the orders being bellowed at him when he took off. One of his fellow trainees chased after him, attempting to catch up with him and stop him. There were other officers already dispatched to the location, he tried to reason with Solitaire, there's nothing you can do anyway. Stop before you're considered a traitor for abandoning your post! But for Solitaire, it was too late in more ways than one. Hearing the yelping coming from the now seized and surrounded platoon, he had made it to their location just in time to witness her demise. When her attacker began to eat her right in front of him, he flew into a rage shrugging off his training partner whom had been trying to encourage him to run, and managing to wrench the smaller framed female from the infected rogue's jaws. Unsurprisingly, this resulted in taking a vicious bite to the flank. The infection set in fast and it wasn’t long after being bitten that he was exiled from Eden, never to return to his family or his job.
Feeling a deep sense of betrayal at being thrown out from the village he had sworn to give his life to protect, Solitaire stumbled confused and in pain through the wastelands, finding himself growing hungrier and weaker. It was only after obtaining his first meal that he found himself growing strangely stronger. Despite the pain, so long as he kept eating, he found himself becoming faster, his stamina was longer, he was becoming a beast.
Quite by accident, he stumbled into the territory of the Jager pack and was caught poaching their food. Rather than risk being killed by the pack leader and her cronies, he instead smooth talked his way into the lower levels, his size, strength, and overall discipline making him a prime candidate for the Creeper position. His colours provide excellent coverage when hunkered down in the dirt, and his willingness to accept a position of such great risk while leaving more seasoned members of the pack out of harm's way proved a fairly decent trade for the pack. While he openly swears his allegiance to Mynx, he is still a very shady character and it's difficult to tell if he's actually loyal to anyone but himself.
Thankfully, the alliance he held to the Jager pack was not for very long and almost as soon as his mate, Ophelia, and best friend Drix were all together again, the three of them struck out on their own to create The Dead Dogs.

He had friends and a life on the "inside" before being thrown out, but he prefers to avoid giving it too much thought. He's terribly conflicted after becoming infected; on one hand, he misses his family and his old life, but now that he has become what he had spent his entire life fearing, he has never felt freer. The worst possible thing has happened, and yet he has continued to live on...it became a mixture of exhilaration and sorrow. Still, he can't help feeling very lonely for the lack of companionship outside of the walls, and finds himself drifting back towards the city in hopes of at least a little conversation.

"You never talk about that." the dry voice of his spaniel companion cut through the silence that had lingered over the sleepy shepherd and his ears flicked in her direction.
"...wh...what?" he asked groggily, stretching his paws out and wiggling the ends of his toes to try and dust the sleepiness from their tips. Drix snorted, giving the shepherd a little glare.
"I'm sorry, am I boring you?"
"No! Just...long day, man." Solitaire grumbled back, yawning widely.
"I suppose I should be grateful that you don't have night watch this evening."
"Mm? No. More like...be afraid that I'm not." he yawned loudly for a second time, shaking his head. "Been up all night...watching."
"Hn. Well. I can't sleep."
"Good for you."
"You keep avoiding my question." she added in a snap and Solitare rolled his eyes.
"Not avoiding, ignoring! I'm sleepy. Can't you tell I'm sleepy??"
She rolled her eyes, moving closer to him and shoving the shepherd against the ground roughly, her paws pinning him down on either side of his head. He blinked, having not been at all prepared for an attack, especially a Drix attack. He didn't yelp, which was probably the most manly he could be when put in such a situation; being best friends or not, there wasn't a dog alive that wasn't even a little intimidated by Drix, especially with her wild temper. Still, he stared up at her with wide eyes, ears flexing down a bit as a sign of submission, but the rest of his body language seemed to be asking what the fuck she was doing. She was the brains and he was the brawn. That was simply how their relationship worked; it was always that way. But sometimes he needed to remind himself she was more than capable of becoming the brawn herself. He made a move as though to push her off when she very suddenly made a snapping motion for his neck and he growled lowly, about to snap back when he realized she had started playfully chewing on his neck like a puppy dragging along a ragdoll or something. He blinked, completely taken off guard by her reaction.
"...um?"
"Woke you up, didn't it?" she asked, mouth full of his neck fluff. He still looked incredibly uncomfortable, finally finding his nerve long enough to push her off.
"...<< that...is more than enough of that." he grumbled, dragging himself to his feet once she allowed him to push her off.
"I have asked you this question plenty of times, and while your mate is out, I think it's about time I got my answer."
"What the HELL are you going on about?"
"How did you escape the Jager pack?"
"Escape? I didn't escape. I went out on a mission as a creeper and just << never came back? It's hard to explain, but with so many other members of her packs and with...er...not much sanity left in her, Mynx has a hard enough time knowing where SHE even is let alone someone as unimportant as myself. She probably thought I was killed off or something." he shrugged, laying back down on the floor with a soft fwump. "For all I know, she might have thought I was another hallucination or something."
"Mm. Do you think she'll come looking for you?"
"Not if she doesn't believe I ever existed? Honestly, I don't think much about it." he raised an eyebrow comically at her, tip of his tongue sticking out of his mouth. "Why? Hoping to run into her or something? Extra limbs must be your thing, eh?"
The spaniel rolled her eyes again, reaching a paw up and shoving Solitaire's face away from hers and into the ground. He sputtered a little at how fast she was, snout filling with dirt until he sneezed.

Mentally, if he goes more than a day without eating, he turns quite feral, unable to see or think or even process things without devouring something. It’s because of this he does his best to always keep a small snack on him at all times. Better a bite than nothing at all.
♦ often speaks in innuendos around the ladies, however he is strictly heterosexual, if not somewhat homophobic from his days in Eden's military.
♠ the irony of his position as a creeper is that the dog that had killed his former female was doing the exact same thing as his current occupation. Whether Sol appreciates the irony remains to be seen.
♣ Being a shepherd, he built for power, not speed and while he's perhaps a little faster than the average dog his size thanks to the infection setting in and taking the majority of the fat in his body to sustain the illness, he's still not as fast as, perhaps, a sight hound like Calcipher.

I would say that the original comment itself didn't spark an argument, but rather your hostile and inflammatory retorts defending why you believed the way you do. There's nothing wrong with standing up for what you believe in, but sometimes you need to pick your battles.

Well to be honest I started by wanting to try and explain it to you because I don't like leaving people with the wrong idea out of their own pure assumptions. But as soon as I did your first instinct appears to be to try and argue it and thrash about screaming. This is the internet, read shit carefully before you make up your mind on something, take note that not everyone is going to agree with your opinion, and if you don't like it theres plenty of other groups for you to go out and join.

The founder doesn't want non-cis dogs because there would never really be a reason for it to actually matter in an rp if the dog even had the time to think about things like that. Like the most you could possibly get in the context of TDE specifically would be dysphoria since there'd be no reason for any reassignment surgeries or any of the technology to do that anyway. You could make a nonbinary character, it's just not something you would put in their bio

Nonbinary means not being male or female, be it cis or trans. If the character sheet has "gender" in it, then it matters, because just like someone can be male, or female, they can be neither. It has nothing to do with surgeries or wanting to pass. It has to do with what the character is and they might not be either of the only two gender accepted.

Ah sorry thanks to tumblr I tend to lump NB into the trans category because their gender doesn't match up with their biological sex (and yes I'm aware of things like intersex but that's not the discussion here so please pardon my not completely PC phrasing of things) which is how I tend to qualify cis (gender matches up with biological sex) for most discussions.
And I'm not agreeing with the founder, I'm just giving the reasons she's given for not wanting NB genders. She also doesn't want to allow the can of worms that NB genders can be (anywhere from demiboy to lamingender to ekragender) since allowing those, in her opinion from what I remember, is just asking for special snowflakes that aren't going to be beneficial to the group as a whole. If you're really interested in joining the group I would suggest noting her personally and asking if a certain NB label would be ok (I want to say that agender with X body might work but idek) since she's not completely unreasonable.
For all intents and purposes, as much as I do hypopup memes and all that glorious stuff, my own character is effectively agender/asexual since he never cared as a baby and now he's infected so he's kinda on the antisocialization side (not that that's a feature of agender/aro/ace people) and so it really doesn't matter. So you could say he's NB, but on his app he's a male. *ALMIGHTY SHRUG*

Nonbinary might be placed under the trans category, but in this specific situation, you really can do a trans character that identifies as a binary gender, since the charsheet asks for gender and not sex, so you can just mark the char's real gender, and not their gender assigned at birth. But I don't know if it would be acceptable not to mark any gender or mark both of them.
I understand you're not agreeing with her, but I completely disagree with her attitude, and lost all my interest in joining when she referred to gender stuff as a tumblr fad.
Anyways, thanks for the answer and suggestion, and your character sounds nice, I dig aro/ace characters a lot!

Honestly he's probably just ace because he's gone nuts so he's def not good representation at all
But ya after having talked with her specifically you have to mark one gender (at the very least their AAB gender) and then keep any mention of their NB status to rps or other things you write and not the actual app since even intersex conditions still result in a biological disposition to look more like one sex or the other and so the dogs would say that they're the sex they look most like. And in this particular situation, gender and sex are being used interchangeably.
The dogs of this world wouldn't have the time to give themselves labels, so even if a dog was agender or NB or whatever they would just act that way. It's chill to have an androgynous character or whatever, they're just going to be androgynous and not labeled as what we would label them as if they were a person.
//edit Also she is very serious about the whole gender/sex thing, which is why tucute things bother her so much because they reaffirm assholes' opinions that transtrenders and people with nounself neopronouns and all of that are the people that define the trans* community so they have the shitstain statements like "oh well why should i respect your pronouns when you're just the same as those people who want me to call them bunself instead of himself" and things like that does hurt the community as a whole. The world isn't ready for that sort of thing, not with people still fighting to be called regular pronouns that don't fit with what they're AAB offline with people they know regularly and all that.

Like I said to your friend in my other comment (I really don't feel like typing it all out again sorry OTL) they can be effectively NB or an effeminate male or a masculine female (I'm doing the terrible simplifying thing for brevity) just not explicitly labeled as NB or trans. Like...in this world they would be born as male or female (or I suppose you might be able to swing intersex?) and then would have conflict with their sex and idk I'm actually going to double check with people about the general NB thing since from the character creation journal all I'm seeing is that there's no neopronouns and tucute stuff (which is probably referring to things like blizgender, buckgender, burlesgender/genderesque, corugender, medeigender, etc basically things that aren't male, female, agender, or the handful of other standard gender labels), not NB as a whole. I am clarifying that with people who know more than myself since I could easily be wrong but I'm pretty sure NB would be accepted.

Eh. I'm not so sure. I know I've pushed a few boundaries with his back story considering most of the wastelanders were born into the wasteland, and the concept of his potential mate being killed while he was on duty might be a bit much, but I really liked the idea behind it because it helps explain his lack of allegiance one way or the other. Also, I wasn't sure his spiky "mane" would be appropriate considering not many dogs in the group have "hair", but I've drawn him quite a few times as a human and I adore his mohawk, so I can't very well get rid of that.
and then I thought...god. He looks a lot like Saturnalia. x.x;; I hate it when my characters resemble each other too much. And his colour scheme reminds me a bit of my fursona...something ELSE that bothers me...
oh well. /shrug
the original colour scheme was blonde, but I've never really seen a blonde shepherd mix...so...

And he's only in stage one so he should have some of his hair. (I think its stage 2 is when it gets all like shedding and stuff.)

Oh! I was going to turn my Ophelia into blonde the first time I made her until I accidentally turned her body lightish grey. (I died at the moment, but I'm glad that mistake happened. )

Mm. He's a mixture of Australian/belgian shepherd with some finnish laphund and possibly some german shepherd and even pembroke corgi in there too. He's got a LOT of genes going on. That's also kind of why he's had concentration issues even before he was infected.
It may have even been possible for Opal to have known Soli before he was infected, which could set the stage for their interactions afterwards. As long as he's not ravenously hungry, he would never attack someone he actually liked, even though he doesn't exactly make his hatred for the leaders of Eden any sort of secret.
