Description 37 years later and its May 2020. Much has changed since 1983 the River Tyne is a lot cleaner and is now the best Salmon River in England.
The beautiful Gateshead Millennium Bridge now spans the River at this point. To see a photo of the bridge in the open position view my photo "River Tyne"
D87 HMS Newcastle which was built on the Tyne at Swan Hunter Shipyard was sent to the scrap yard on the 21st November 1983.
The metal sheds have all gone but the old Co-op warehouse has been transformed into the Malmaison Hotel (the grey building on the right)
