Description
The OF1F was the United States Astro-Navy's first dedicated Space-interceptor and very quickly became an icon of American power in the stars. First fielded in 1973, the Raven is unique in that it features no on-board radar array (except the OF1F-4 and OF1F-5 variants). Instead, its radar scope is slaved to its mothership's complex radar array which scans and locks targets as necessary. This fact allows the Raven to field a powerful RCS system and a large fuel tank, giving the Raven an unparalleled operational endurance.
Most Raven variants field two 30mm autocannons in a large underslung gun-blister, plus four hardpoints which, due to the Raven's status as an interceptor, are normally fitted with the OIM-2B Dove Smart-Missile.

Depicted here is an OF1F-2A Raven from the VF-81 "Sunliners" Strike Fighter Squadron. This picture was taken in 1976, when VF-81 was still stationed aboard the USAS Michael Symonds.
