Usagi Yojimbo is a comic book series created by Stan Sakai, an exceptional artist and comic writer who it has been my pleasure to meet in person. I've loved his work for quite some time, and decided to attempt drawing some of his creations.
Think Samurai Jack, before there was Samurai Jack, except he's an anthropomorphic rabbit, and take away the future and time traveling magic narrative and gimmick making it raw and realistic, and violent despite the animal characters involved...like a furry version of Last Samurai...and that is essentially Usagi Yojimbo.
He's crossed over with the Ninja Turtles before a number of times, as well as have his own independent success via his own journey's across feudal Japan, fighting for justice and honor with, and sometimes against friends.
It's definitely worth a look if you haven't heard of the character before.

Usagi: Here I am, about to have another duel of the century, and it's freaking raining. I'm cold, I'm muddy and I smell like wet dog.

Essentially he's a wandering Samurai in an adult world of Zootopia basically if it was feudal Japan.
He has makes friends, some quirky, some gritty, some both, as he goes who in some cases are former opponents of his.
His actual enemies include a clan of Neko cat Ninja, a guild of Bat Ninja that fight with their feet while air born, a Python Warlord named Lord Hebi who is a master of Judo, and of course, Jei the Demon Wolf.

How does making friends out of former opponents go?

Typically dueling them and earning each other's respect after the fact, or fighting a common enemy. Or one learning from the other until they become frien-emy's on opposing sides.

Usage looks quite tough in this picture you've done of him in such a setting.
