Description

So i’m making this post to address some things about the Character known as Azzax Hegemone. People have come to me asking Why I made this character and address some other things about her that may have passed over your heads.
So to begin, let’s review her story taking place within the time line of Mass Effect 1 - 3 and some time after.
Azzax K. Hegemone had been recruited into the Turian military for several years as per the tradition of her race whom are required to serve at least once in their lives. She was well trained in general combat and even added her own little twist to it. Typically light hearted witty jokey joker life of the party trying to keep up morale in her squads. One day she had been sent with a small team to investigate about unusual Geth activity which they came to find that they were capturing and impaling people on dragons’s teeth on Eden Prime.
Azzax and her team had been ambushed by these Geth and all but a three of them including her had been captured and then placed on these dragons teeth and were impaled, she could feel her insides turning but something strange happened, weather it was will power or sheer luck or both she fought it back and it malfunctioned. She was able to pull herself off the spike and get loose and crawl away with a large hole in her (hence that scar you see under her boob going down her belly). Luckily she found Medi-jell to patch up the wound but passed out from the blood loss and the shock from it. During her time unconscious she started to see those dark figures whispering in a language she couldn’t understand until she woke up at the citadel wondering if what happened was a dream or for real soon learning it was all reality.
Not long after she was well enough to leave the hospital she would hear the subtle whispers of several voices in her mind until it was audible enough to make out. At night dreams continued to get more and more unnerving with flashes of people melting and turning into husks like she almost did, so much so she started to hear the whispers in her head while she was awake at times, it was driving her mad, this was a after it had been apparent the reapers were coming, the whispers got more and more intense and the voices multiplied telling her to do this and that and the next until she eventually cracked and lost her mind giving into the madness and found herself flying into fits of rage and crying fits then to maniacal laughter sometimes in the same instance, hallucinating seeing the dead glowing blue eyes the husks had in everyone she saw. The fear was almost crippling because she couldn’t understand what it all meant and screaming at the voices to shut up to the point where she hardly slept at all, barely eating.
However she was too stubborn to kill herself to escape the noise and too strong willed to fall under their control. After coming to terms that these voices were here to stay she one day decided to go in another direction… she started listening to hat they were telling her… Not following their orders, only listening as she continued to try to function properly in public. Eventually she started talking back to them defiantly taunting them, daring them to come get her and promising that she would kill them all off. Azzax had always been a very powerful Biotic since she had been in the military switching from an Adept to a Cabal Vanguard, and this exposure to the reaper tech had somehow only increased her power (round mass effect 3 when the reapers arrived and began “harvesting”)
She would listen closely and followed her gut feeling until she actually came face to face with one of them, a destroyer class, stood about 160 meters high, With no regard to her own life she went for it with a bat she had found and actually managed to knock out its seemingly impenetrable shield with the force of her stroke coupled with the Biotic power of warp. Amazing! she thought, She had no idea she was capable of this and tried again teleport flash stepping around bludgeoning the Reaper from every angle she could until she finally crippled it. But she didn’t stop there, she went for its primary weapon next, laughing all the way through Hitting it again and again denting and cracking its armor until she finally broke it down! With a dented up bent bat she looked triumph-idly at the now dying Reaper in shambles in front of her and taunted it as its light faded telling it how it couldn’t control her as easily as it thought.
From then on she contributed in the fight against the reapers while still dealing with them whispering in her head so far she had taken down another one by herself utilizing her immense and growing biotic power the same was as she did the first time. Once she figured out how to take down their shields with her Biotic power then the rest was just looking for physical weak points to whack with a new bat she had made that was reenforced with a much stronger metal, namely the joints on their legs and primary weapon. She passionately referred to her fight against the reapers as “Horde mode” their 10,000 + lives vs her 1. She found herself enjoying the thrill of such a great battle! this had been going on for a couple of years where she learned to control her power and use it more effectively against the reapers and their forces trying to learn how they work, how they attack, what their weaknesses were practicing each and every day she could.
Making her way to earth where the final battle had been taking place Azzax found herself standing face to face with a Harbinger, the reaper whom had been plaguing her mind since all those years ago. She was overtaken with glee and spoke to it telling it that its ass was officially hers, full of confidence she leaped at it striking it’s hull with all the force she could muster but this time it’s shield was stronger than she expected, but she would not give up! Again and again going after its weak points trying her best to cripple it that shield was holding. She had to do something or she might die this time… It fired at her and without thinking about it she put a barrier up and watched as it deflected and went in another direction and the heat burned through her armor which gave her an idea, to take down a shield like that she would have to use its own weapon against it. Jumping up and flash stepping to a tall building she taunted it daring her to shoot her again, telling it that it was weak and that she was still standing.
Falling for her taunt it fired again but more intensely, this was her one chance to make this happen! She jumped up and as it fired and hit her barrier again she redirected the beam back at it and it sliced right through it’s own shield and pierced its hull. She wasted no time and flashed stepped to it as quickly as she could and went for it’s legs holding it up until the joints cracked, from the force of how hard she was hitting it she had been cracking the bones in her arms… but she couldn’t stop, she wouldn’t stop! With everything she had she struck it again and again cracking it’s hull wide open until she could get inside it and start to tear it apart from the inside. It finally fell… The Harbinger had finally been defeated! Azzax crawled her way out of the reaper, weak and tattered and a broken arm laughing at it still taunting about how she won, it was beat all by the hands of one mentally broken turian woman. and feel to her back looking up at the citadel floating there over them and gave it a thumbs up as a brilliant flash of light exploded from it passing over everything destroying the reapers and husks in the area and soon the whole world.
Smiling through all the blood she coughed up from exerting all that power that her body could barely handle she fell unconscious with a big grin on her face, finally it was over, the voices were gone… she could finally die knowing she accomplished the impossible. Oddly enough, she didn’t die, in stead she awoke in the med bay of a ship with another turian woman walking in sighing in relief that she finally woke up. Apparently she had been under for over a month and would have died had she and her friends not found her laying there. The woman introduced herself as Buccha and that she was a nurse and she had been taking care of her while she slept.
Azzax thanked her very much for saving her but then inquired about why she did. Buccha had apparently been looking for her following the trail of rumors and leads about an incredibly powerful Turian woman had been roaming around the solar system killing reapers and wanted to learn about her biotic power. Her and a crew of three, a Turian, a Quarian and a geth all wanted to meet her! Azzax was flattered and continued to play catch up with the events that had passed since she was found, pleased to hear that the galaxy was rebuilding from the siege of the reaper menace. With nothing else to do with her life that was when Azzax decided to stick with this wayward crew in which more misadventures took place as she continued to heal mentally and slowly adjust to having a normal life.
And that concludes her story for the time being.

Now to address some controversies with this character in design. For why I created her that way, for starters I saw an opportunity and I took it, Before Bioware came out with the post about turian boobs which I am almost convinced they made because every other person had pitch forks and torches ready to linch them for having Turian females be more human female and for some reason a lot of people are unreasonably critical about the human body/ mammal aspect of things, but that’s neither here nor there it can very well be respectable to have a larger turian rather than the canon ones are. I mean, it’s cool to see. Not every race, even one with a high metabolism, is gonna be all skinny and stuff right?

Bioware has left a lot of loose ends open for interpretation as well, save for that very early concept art of them they haven’t released or designed whats under their clothing/armor, just gave a general and somewhat vague shape. SO, Opportunity strikes and Azzax was born!
now of course I have a preference and appreciation love for the curvier and or stronger side of the spectrum and somewhat rebel against the personification of the “perfect body” which is usually depicted as slender thin, hourglass tight waist shaped, B/C/D cups and anything above or below that line is seen as flowed or overly sexualized (here where I live at least) and must alter themselves to reach that line or they aren’t beautiful or are Too beautiful. A little human anatomy don’t have to hurt nobody was where my mind was at. Just as y'all have made alteration to the bodies you draw to fit your personal preferences.

Azzax was also created to challenge these “preferences” set by society and to also drive the point that people can’t control how they’re born and how their body develops (save for how they take care of it of course) and just because they look a certain way doesn’t mean they’re that they’re automatically slutty or anorexic or ugly or whatever. And the way they dress could simply mean they think they look good in that outfit not that they’re trying to get attention or show off. like for example, if You were to wear a low cut tank top with a sweet design on it, I can without a doubt say that you’re probably not thinking “Heh heh yeah i’m gonna get all the guys to look at me with this shirt”
no, you wear it because you like it and it looks great on you. Not only that but to get people to look past her assets and see HER for who she is, that she snot just some big slutty woman because her boobs are big or because she has thick curves, of which I succeeded in doing and am pretty proud of that accomplishment.

Again it’s been left open for interpretation. Besides that who’s to say that Turian’s can’t have Mammal like traits along with their raptor ones ey?
But I digress. Azzax is indeed one of a kind i’m sure and none else would dare to step over that line, but who knows. perhaps others may dabble into designing Turian ladies as such. I wouldn’t bank on that because change ain’t something everybody likes and can be passionate and somewhat stubborn about how they feel which is fair enough.

As for her power, I know what you’re thinking “Azzax is too overpowered, she is too strong, that’s so boring and like there’s absolutely no sort of threat for her.” to which I would say “Absolutely she is ridiculously powerful with her biotics” and she can’t just turn it off. Since her battle with the Harbinger she had been gaging everyone to that thing and she has concluded that there is nothing they can threaten her with. And that’s the point, she has received all this power and used it well to help defeat the biggest threat to the galaxy of mass effect. after that she has nothing left that could challenge her.. where can she go from there? which brings up a totally different challenge. And THAT is the point you’re missing here. to live a life of being a target to anyone who knows about her, constantly treated like a monster and a freak of nature, she can never have the normal life she one had. she can’t settle down no matter where she goes, and she refuses to let herself be killed by someone she would deem unworthy, it will be an endless cycle. the challenge is that she needs to make a decision, to use her power to help people, to kill and destroy or kill herself and end it all. what will she pick? who knows.
Sort of a god amongst men story. yes, it’s a story of coming from humble beginnings to a downward spiral to a power trip and back to being humble with a monumental responsibility that she has to learn to cope with or let it consume her. is she immortal? no, is she invincible? absolutely not! but she does have a solid defense and her creativity in how to use her power. Will she just simply brush off anyone who stands in her way? to a certain degree but she will handicap herself to at least try to make it a “challenge”, otherwise it would simply be boring for her. She will have to learn to use her power towards something else than just fighting people, like standing up for the weak against those stronger than them.
