typically when i experience a dream i will influence my writing if I have a dream about flying a WWII bomber mission I would write something like it and if I lose interest I will stop writing it
you're closest equivalent is if I played music a video etc and you started to draw based on what was heard/seen and if you choose to continue or drop it like a bad habit
