Queen Chrysalis rules the changeling kingdom and truly adores her subjects. Each one is her child, so of course she feels the need to provide and protect all of them. After her plan to invade Canterlot failed due to the rise of Nightmare Moon, she entered diplomatic relations with her.
Chrysalis was allowed to periodically attend weddings or large events to collect love. Changelings have the ability to feed on love directly, giving them immense power. However, indirectly collecting or absorbing love will also sustain them, although giving them less power. The queen was satisfied, her children were kept comfortably fed and all her subjects seemed happy.
It was on a short trip to Canterlot for a diplomatic summit she met Day Breaker. The pure white alicorn introduced herself as the ruler of the Court of the Sun. Despite it's fall after the initial rise of Nightmare Moon, the Court of the Sun had risen again to rule alongside the Court of the Moon and Stars. A fix everycreature seemed pleased with. Twisted sisters together again, Chrysalis thought.
The Queen and the goddess spent the entire week attached at the hip. They were inseparable from moment one. Chrysalis felt herself changing, but not in a way she was familiar with. She adored each and every moment she spent with Day Breaker. She loved being around her, and almost dreaded the day she would have to return to her own kingdom without the sun goddess. Until Day Breaker asked to accompany her home, for a short visit of course. What kind of ruler would the white pony be if she never visited her fellow kingdoms? Chrysalis agreed, it would be terribly disrespectful to deny another queen hospitality.
After months of courting her beloved Day Breaker, Chrysalis awoke one morning to find her body different. Unfortunate, she thought, molting was always so uncomfortable. But she knew the process well and began to ready herself for the day. She passed a mirror and stopped, she wasn't molting. Her body had truly changed. Her green shell was replaced with a bright red one. Her wings had turned from tattered and translucent to strong and complete. For the first time in her life, she was able to fold her wings in without pain. Her hair was no longer impossibly tangled, but perfectly kept and beautifully shiny. Oh sweet lords above, the legends were true. She had changed form.
The queen was worshiped even more after her transformation. All her changelings followed in her wake, slowly becoming less distressed and tattered. Their wings appeared healthier, their bodies were stronger, their hearts more full. She owed all of it to Day Breaker, the unrelenting loyalty and love her partner had given her had transformed her and her subjects for the better. When she visited next, the sun pony was elated. She looked upon the kingdom and was over joyed. Chrysalis felt it was as good a time as any, she asked the mare to marry her. She wanted her warm light around eternally, and Day Breaker agreed.

Here she is! Miss ma'am herself. One of my favorite villains. She is partially reformed, but still a little evil. She can be a little evil, as a treat. Her design is modeled after a lady bug because I think they're very cute. I will die on the hill that Chrysalis and Day Breaker are a cute couple and that Celestia and Chrysalis could have been a cute couple.
