Description
This is just a collection of scribbled out thoughts I made originally in my school planner just after I finished reading The Story of B by Daniel Quinn. It's the second book in his Ishmael series of thoughts that is very thought provoken and challenges the reader to view our culture from a less ventured type of viewpoint. I've read all three and now I'm exploring it because I need evidence for and against it to make sure I'm standing on the right path. The Story of B I enjoyed the most because it hit me directly. For a long time I've been agnostic, trying to find something that made sense to me. Taoism was the closest, but whether or not it's because I grew up in a Christian family I still questioned the exisitence of God. Well, I'm still agnostic, but I'm more comfortable with it after reading The Story of B.Ishmael, The Story of B, and My Ishmael are all great books if you want to challenge your thoughts, save our world, or you feel hopeless about living in a world that is being destoryed by our culture. It won't answer all your questions, infact what I like about it is that it creates more questions that you must seek the answers to, and in my opinion it's very well worth it.
You may critique it if you want. I encourage it because since they're only scribbles there is much I could have missed. I don't consider it finished or the beginning. I also had my own country in mind when I was scribbling it. I haven't lived in any other country [ besides England, but that was only for a month and was a family vacation ], so, I couldn't justifiably relate my thoughts to every country, but there are things that Canada shares with the rest of the other countries, and that's our culture.

I'm very instinctual, but I love laws that were made to fight against nature's law of "the strongest always survives, the weak get eaten". I would of been beaten up a lot more in life, or even killed if these unnatural laws weren't made.

I'm not really sure about that. Before we became the culture we are today we had different structures.
It's not the only law of nature that the strongest prevails, but to me it's a very misunderstood one. The law of nature is to compete, but you cannot wage war on your competitors [ which one of the main problems with our culture ].
Usually when the weak fail to live [ I'm talking about general species, not bullying. The bullying we are familiar with is a different to nature's laws. ] because they have not adapted enough to live in the world. There always needs to be a struggle, and sometimes kindness can be cruel. I think I can best explain what I'm trying to stress with a story about an enviromentalist that I read in the story of B. I can't remember it well and I can't find it in the book, but I'll do my best [ one day I hope to have my own refrences instead of going back to books written by one author ]:
I can't remember his name, but when he was a boy he colleted the eggs/chrysalis of a certain species of butterfly. He watched as one butterfly broke the shell and struggled to break away from the liquidy stuff [ I can't remember what to call it ] and crawled away and dry its wings. He then had an idea and thought he could help the other butterflies to escape by squeezing them out of the egg/chrysalis instead of having them struggle free. When he did that soon after the butterflies died.
I don't know if that helps or not. Believe me when I say that I don't like it much either, but it's what works. It's worked for thousands even millions of years. Our current culture isn't lasting nearly that long. At least that's what I've been able to conclude so far with what I've seen and heard. I'm still pursuing this. ^^

Sorry. I may have been talking about too much and there's not enough explained there. They were mostly thoughts I wanted to get out on paper because the mind has ways of being disorganized. >_< Thankyou very much. If you saw my room you wouldn't believe me, but I actually have fun organizing notes, and it helps when studying. :3
