so this is my entry for the filth b&w contest. on onewordphoto... [link]it is about how every human is twisted inside. the one part only wanting the sin, the flesh, our instincts. Always on the search for sin this part comes into the way of the intellect. its holding us down. this part reminds us of being animals at all. That is what this photo means. Filth is approached as the sexual instincts, the sin itself.
You may call it mephistopheles if you want

i love this photo. the color is perfect b&w, and the bandage stands out lovely. 'sin' is written so that the I is sort of bleeding down to meet the top of your pants, and the S is squiggly while the N is big, like representing imperfection. the posture is leaned back with a hand in the pocket and the other on a cane type thing, which to me is reminiscent of casually bad. all in all, you got the point across beautifully

Sexual desires = filth = sin = holding us down
I don't agree with that at all. Now that makes my perception of the picture a bit confused and twisted inside. Just visually, it's very strong and interesting, with the body parts coming out of the dark and the strong light from the side.

im not saying its all so bad. i didn't like the word filth, because it has this negative undertone. i used it non judgingly. But i feel quite often that sin is controling my thoughts, my actions.
Its like smoking, you get so much addicted that you have to spend money on them, or you have to go quite a long way to the next vending machine, even when its freezing cold outside. Maybe its just my experiences.

To me using the word sin sounds very judgemental.
To me the word doesn't have this negative undertone... but then I have a messie problem, and I'm learning to live with it. So for me it was easy to come with a photo & thought that put filth in a positive context.

Wow. this is pretty cool. The lighting is great and the composition is really cool. The writing is very complimenting to what the word stands for- the s is in sort of a snake like way and makes you think of sin. Really like the bandage too it kinda tells me that they've been through something before and that you can't really get away from the filth.
