Saw a tutorial on how to add the glow, and got the planet texture off the interwebs- but all else was me. If you look closely, you can see the houses and stuff.Related content

Yes, clever indeed. Did you use something like cartograph then wrap it? Thats awesome.
If this isn't a real map, then you did a pretty good job of making it look like one.

I used a Cartographed map and applied the Shape3D plugin for Paint.net to make it a sphere, then applied post-processing glow and stuff.
