Description

Raye did everything she could to pump up Makayla for her fight. She’d told her much the same language she had told Kaitlyn a couple weeks earlier.   She was getting there, her skills were improving, she just needed some time and some confidence. Her previous week’s win was a thing of beauty.

None of it seemed to have sunk in.

Makayla looked nervous and tentative. She’d trained with Raye and Raye was prone to going rough on them.   She wasn’t brutal with them by any means but she tried to instill in them the speed and aggressiveness in which matches happened. She felt just going through the motions wouldn’t help. Raye could see Makayla and Kaitlyn speeding up but it was a slow improvement.

Now that Raye and Makayla squared off now it was clear to Raye that Makayla was sure she couldn’t win. She knew she wasn’t ready for her trainer. She wrestled scared and that is the best way to lose.

“Come on Makayla, give me your best.” Raye said, meaning she wanted her best.

Makayla however came out as tentative as her body language said it might and Raye took her apart.

She took an arm almost immediately and bent it painfully, then twisting it to drive Makayla to her knees.

“You can do better than this, ‘Kayla. You’ve worked hard.”

But Makayla was already in a panic. She was against a girl she knew she couldn’t beat.
