Also just did a general cleanup, as his whole ref was kinda out of whack, coding wise. It's almost perfect now~

Also, if anyone could help me out with understanding why the font got really small in the family department, I would be very thankful.

Ramiel Aelius
Pronounced Ram-E-L

-- Was named after Ramiel the fallen angel. Ramiel was a "watcher" of those who rise from the dead. Another variation is Remiel, an archangel of hope and divine visions.
-- Was named after the watcher angel because of his spots and rosettes that resemble eyes

Species and Description
Cougar / Jaguar hybrid -- Melanistic Mutation
Ramiel is pretty large for his age. Having been the first born helped. He also carries a mutated gene that will prevent his growth from stopping once he's reached adulthood...meaning that he will keep growing and become quite large. This may or may not be the death of him, however.

He mostly took after his father as far as coloration and markings, and anyone who had seen one and then the other would probably know they were related. Ramiel was the only cub of his litter to have his mother's blue eyes, although his are rather unusual. The "whites" of his eyes are dark blue, while his iris is bright blue. His pupil is black, as it should be. His nose and paw pads are a deep red, and the inside of his ears is light gray. The tuft on his head has grown into three spikes pointed toward the rear. Most of his markings closely resemble markings and evil smiles, however his personality is quite opposite.

Skills

Stealth
Probably stemming from his father's Hunter skills, Ramiel is quiet as a mouse when he moves. However, with all of his markings looking like eyes, it can make it very hard for him to hunt, as prey will be on edge if they feel they are being looked at. If Ramiel can keep his pelt hidden, he will be a great hunter...of food that is.

Beginner fighting skill
He's still a cub, so he hasn't been able to attempt any awesome or unique battle moves yet. However, Pallis used to play fight with him sometimes, so Ramiel picked up on a few things his dad used to do. They haven't been perfected, but Ramiel will keep practicing until they are.

Past Training Experience

Novice Knowledge of the Hunters
Having been born within the walls of Massilia and sired by a hunter, Ramiel often listened to his father speak about the mighty Bounty Hunters, and how they work. Ramiel thought they sounded really powerful, but at his young age, had very little understanding of what he was being told and so never really bothered to have an opinion. He's still unsure about them, only really knowing that his new empiremates call the Hunters the enemy, and he should too.

Novice Knowledge of Massilia and humans
Pallis also used to take Ramiel out for walks around the city. He's gotten to see and interact with humans, and he's also gotten to see a little bit of the city.

Mentors

Pallis
During Ramiel's first few months of living in the city, his father often spent time with him and his siblings. Pallis showed him some of the city, told him stories of his adventures, the Bounty Hunters, and taught him some very basic fighting/hunting basics. Since Ramiel was so young, some of this information will be foggy. But once triggered, it could all come back quickly.

Roxanne
Once Ramiel became an apprentice of Lightning Empire, his gladiator-friend Roxanne was assigned his mentor. Ramiel is very appreciative that he was given a mentor he is comfortable with and is confident will do well.

Armor

Apprentice: Ramiel spoke will Vulcan, a blacksmith apprentice staying with Lightning from Air, and Vulcan agreed to make Ramiel's armor when he came of age. Since Ramiel so admired his father, Ramiel did his best to remember and describe Pallis' armor to Vulcan, who did his best to make something similar. Although it came out very different in style, the colors were close enough to Pallis' that Ramiel loved it anyway. The concept was designed by DappledSun and can be seen in full here: Armor for Ramiel . It was kind of complex so I kinda altered it into my own thing.
There are two metal plates on each shoulder, colored different hues of green. He has a brown harness with orange markings. The center piece is made of wood and metal. (Ramiel loves earthy things). Completely separate is a plate on his haunches- also green- that bare the empire's emblem, since "My mentor and Del said I have to wear the crest so other cats know where I'm from." Ramiel feels like it takes away from the armor's design but doesn't object; he knows wearing the crest is supposed to be a show of loyalty and pride in one's empire...and he doesn't want anyone to feel as if he's not dedicated to Lightning.

P e r s o n a l i t y

Personality

Observant and Quick
"We could attack from this side, but then the birds in that tree way over there will see us. They'll fly away and give away our location."
Ramiel is good at spotting small details and piecing them together. Others are often surprised by the things he can figure out just by his observations.

Optimistic
"Hey, things can only get better from here."
He knows the key to being happy is changing your mindset. (His mom taught him enough about negativity). Thus, he always tries to stay positive and optimistic, even in the darkest situations. He isn't optimistic to the point of ignoring reason and failing to acknowledge logic, though.

Bold
"I don't care what they say, I'm going to do it anyway. See if they can stop me."
In short, he isn't always as scared as he should be. When it comes to social hierarchy, Ramiel may very well ignore all the rules and attempt to challenge social norms. From a captive cub knowing he would get in trouble for playing too loudly and doing it anyway thinking he wouldn't get in trouble, to a free cub who still has the same tendency. It may take another harsh lesson or two for him to fully grasp that some felines require respect and obedience.

Coward
"I..I...uh..I'm f-fine...I-I've got to go..."
In the faces of others, Ramiel may seem rather brave. But in the actual face of potential danger, the fear really gets to him. Stemming from the harsh lessons of his mother and the experience of losing everything he knew (his brother and sister, Massilia, etc), he may be a little unsure of himself. This lack of self-confidence makes him too afraid to act in the face of danger. He may grow out of this eventually. He certainly tries. As an apprentice, the time for challenging his fears has come.

Gentle and gentlemanly
"You should never hit a girl...not even with a flower!"
Perhaps in an effort to NOT be like his mother, Ramiel is overly gentle with other cats. Also being quite the gentleman, he takes special care to be gentle and courteous to females. He knows from his mom how mean they CAN be, so he'd rather not see that side of them.

Determined
"Maybe Alex just wants to stay in the nursery because she's afraid to train with the empire. Maybe she's afraid of knowing the truth. But I need to get out there. I need to know the truth."
The truth is really all Ramiel wants right now. He wants to know why his mother was so mean. Why did she hate Lightning Empire so much even though she was the leader of it? What did his father see in her? Why did he not come to find him and Alex? Did he not love them? Why did Dehlia take them away? Why did the Hunters take Melinda away? Were they really as bad as the empire cats seemed to think? Ramiel has an inkling that maybe the empire cats were right, in that the Hunters are the "bad" guys. But...he still has some love for his father. And for that reason, he won't stop improving himself so that he can one day have the strength and skill to find the answers to all his and Alex's questions.

H i s t o r y

Background Information -- Before Joining Lightning Empire
[[ Born to the dark ]]

All he remembered was cold. Dark. Hard floors. Creaking metal doors. Ramiel's mother had been "captured" by the Bounty Hunters, and in captivity is where she gave birth to Ramiel and his three littermates. It was a hard life for the cubs. They tried to love their mother, as any cub would, but she hated them, it seemed. She was insane, and Ramiel did not understand it. He just thought that that was how his mother was. He was abused here, and hated every day of the life that he and his littermates had to endure. But...there was some ounce of hope. Whenever Viatrix was away- which wasn't often or for very long, mind you- another, smaller feline would come around. Her name was Dehlia. Another captured cat, she told the cubs stories about far off lands and wonderful things. She encouraged them and gave them hope...That is, until Viatrix would return and chase Dehlia away/try to kill her. Eventually, Ramiel grew to resent his mother. His only outlet was either sparing with his littermates when mom wasn't around, or spending time with his dad. Pallis would come to see them whenever he got the chance, between work and Elite Hunter meetings. He was a great father to the cubs, so much so that it almost made up for the terrible mother that Viatrix was. When he could convince the guard on duty to open the cage for him, he would take his cubs out and show them the city, a place called "Massilia". He would play fight with them and show them battle moves, and he also told them a lot about the Bounty Hunters and the Empires. Because Pallis was a bounty hunter (and an Elite one at that!), Ramiel felt a small kind of kinship or connection to them. He never met any other Hunters though, nor did he fully understand the opposing factions.

[[ Adopting the light ]]

The cubs were growing. Three months old now, Prisca was spending a lot of time with her new human, and all Atlas could talk about was being the very best, like no one ever was. Ramiel and Alex were spending more time with their dad, as the older they got, the longer they could stay out with him. But then everything changed one night, while mom and dad were away and Prisca was away with her human. Del came to visit the cubs. She brought a young ocelot with her, named Spotspot. Deliah told them that Pallis was waiting for them someplace, but that she had to take them one at a time to the waiting place. Ramiel and Alex went with them; Ramiel to see his father, and Alex for the prospect of adventure. Along the way though, Ramiel became suspicious. Why would his father be meeting them in such a dark, unpopulated area?

Then we got to a really tall wall, and Del told Spots to wait with us, as she was going to go back for Atlas. And so we sat there and waited...and when I saw Del again, she was alone, and running to us, and telling us to run too. "W-where's dad?!" I asked.
"He should be coming, but if we don't get out of here now we might not be able to get out at all. We can't wait. Let's go!" Del replied quickly, urging us to flee. She was a friend. I trusted her.
And I...I got scared. I didn't know what was going on. I didn't know why we were running. And so I followed Spots and I ran through a gap in the wall and then we all just ran...We ran away from the tall wall...until it was gone and I no longer heard the sounds of pursuers...

When we finally stopped running, we were so far away from the city...we were outside the city...i knew from dad that the city ended at some point, but all the nature it was...so...weird... I felt so lost...I stuck close by my sister. Her feet began hurting after walking so long.

They continued to walk for a long time until they encountered a Lightning Empire patrol, lead by a lynx named Tempestas. Del seemed to know him quite well though, so it made Ramiel less afraid, but he was still very nervous. The patrol escorted the tired and worn group back to a place they called "camp". There were so many cats at the Lightning Empire camp that Ramiel was frightened. They were of all shapes and sizes and colors and backgrounds. Del brought them to the nursery and stayed with them there, and Ramiel didn't leave the nursery for days. At least he and Alex were safe away from their mother. Dehlia would take care of them. But Ramiel missed his dad. Would Pallis think of them as traitors for living with an empire while he was a bounty hunter?

Ramiel won't realize until later that Pallis had never planned to meet them, (rather, he was the hunter chasing Dehlia), and that it had been a lie that had brought him to be with Lightning Empire.

Background Information -- Since Joining Lightning Empire

[[ Sparks of doubt ]]

As days wore into weeks, Ramiel began to doubt his place among Lightning Empire. They seemed to hate the Hunters. Did they know about his past? Would they hate him if they knew? Ramiel was afraid to meet any new cats, afraid they would hurt him or Alex for their kinship to Pallis. He was now part of the Empire that his mother had so despised. The one that she once led. Was there a reason for her to hate it so...? But then again...his mother was mad. Why should he believe or trust in her judgement...

And what about his father? Pallis had loved all of his cubs! But...if he did...where was he? Why hadn't he rescued them by now? Had he really cared at all? Or was it just a ploy to shape him into the perfect soldier? Ramiel prefers not to think that way. He doesn't want to believe his father would be so dark, and has hope that maybe he did try to find them, but...couldn't. Then again, keeping such hope would make him hesitant to trust the empire with his loyalty. So the cub had to ask himself quite often...who was more worthy of his loyalty?

[[ Feed quests for truth ]]

At last, Ramiel and Alex had grown old enough to become apprentices. Alex wasn't ready, but Ramiel was more than ready. He knew his lost brother and sister would also be old enough now to become apprentices, and he was determined not to get left behind. He wanted to get out into the territory. He wanted to see the borders, learn the location of the city, and know more about the Hunters-from the Empire's perspective. With Roxanne as his mentor, Ramiel was sure he would receive good training. At least he hoped so. Because all he wanted was to be the strongest gladiator he could be, so that one day he could find his father and littermates and get the answers he so sought.

Quirks and Facts

-- As anyone can notice, most of his rosettes resemble eyes. A similar pattern is visible on his eyelids. Thus, even when his eyes are closed, they look as if they are open. Creeeepy.

The concept was designed by DappledSun and can be seen in full here: Armor for Ramiel . It was kind of complex so I kinda altered it into my own thing.
There are two metal plates on each shoulder, colored different hues of green. He has a brown harness with orange markings. The center piece is made of wood and metal. (Ramiel loves earthy things). Completely separate is a plate on his haunches- also green- that bare the empire's emblem, since "My mentor and Del said I have to wear the crest so other cats know where I'm from." Ramiel feels like it takes away from the armor's design but doesn't object; he knows wearing the crest is supposed to be a show of loyalty and pride in one's empire...and he doesn't want anyone to feel as if he's not dedicated to Lightning.

Personality

Observant and Quick
"We could attack from this side, but then the birds in that tree way over there will see us. They'll fly away and give away our location."
Ramiel is good at spotting small details and piecing them together. Others are often surprised by the things he can figure out just by his observations.

Optimistic
"Hey, things can only get better from here."
He knows the key to being happy is changing your mindset. (His mom taught him enough about negativity). Thus, he always tries to stay positive and optimistic, even in the darkest situations. He isn't optimistic to the point of ignoring reason and failing to acknowledge logic, though.

Bold
"I don't care what they say, I'm going to do it anyway. See if they can stop me."
In short, he isn't always as scared as he should be. When it comes to social hierarchy, Ramiel may very well ignore all the rules and attempt to challenge social norms. From a captive cub knowing he would get in trouble for playing too loudly and doing it anyway thinking he wouldn't get in trouble, to a free cub who still has the same tendency. It may take another harsh lesson or two for him to fully grasp that some felines require respect and obedience.

Coward
"I..I...uh..I'm f-fine...I-I've got to go..."
In the faces of others, Ramiel may seem rather brave. But in the actual face of potential danger, the fear really gets to him. Stemming from the harsh lessons of his mother and the experience of losing everything he knew (his brother and sister, Massilia, etc), he may be a little unsure of himself. This lack of self-confidence makes him too afraid to act in the face of danger. He may grow out of this eventually. He certainly tries. As an apprentice, the time for challenging his fears has come.

Gentle and gentlemanly
"You should never hit a girl...not even with a flower!"
Perhaps in an effort to NOT be like his mother, Ramiel is overly gentle with other cats. Also being quite the gentleman, he takes special care to be gentle and courteous to females. He knows from his mom how mean they CAN be, so he'd rather not see that side of them.

Determined
"Maybe Alex just wants to stay in the nursery because she's afraid to train with the empire. Maybe she's afraid of knowing the truth. But I need to get out there. I need to know the truth."
The truth is really all Ramiel wants right now. He wants to know why his mother was so mean. Why did she hate Lightning Empire so much even though she was the leader of it? What did his father see in her? Why did he not come to find him and Alex? Did he not love them? Why did Dehlia take them away? Why did the Hunters take Melinda away? Were they really as bad as the empire cats seemed to think? Ramiel has an inkling that maybe the empire cats were right, in that the Hunters are the "bad" guys. But...he still has some love for his father. And for that reason, he won't stop improving himself so that he can one day have the strength and skill to find the answers to all his and Alex's questions.

Background Information -- Before Joining Lightning Empire
[[ Born to the dark ]]

All he remembered was cold. Dark. Hard floors. Creaking metal doors. Ramiel's mother had been "captured" by the Bounty Hunters, and in captivity is where she gave birth to Ramiel and his three littermates. It was a hard life for the cubs. They tried to love their mother, as any cub would, but she hated them, it seemed. She was insane, and Ramiel did not understand it. He just thought that that was how his mother was. He was abused here, and hated every day of the life that he and his littermates had to endure. But...there was some ounce of hope. Whenever Viatrix was away- which wasn't often or for very long, mind you- another, smaller feline would come around. Her name was Dehlia. Another captured cat, she told the cubs stories about far off lands and wonderful things. She encouraged them and gave them hope...That is, until Viatrix would return and chase Dehlia away/try to kill her. Eventually, Ramiel grew to resent his mother. His only outlet was either sparing with his littermates when mom wasn't around, or spending time with his dad. Pallis would come to see them whenever he got the chance, between work and Elite Hunter meetings. He was a great father to the cubs, so much so that it almost made up for the terrible mother that Viatrix was. When he could convince the guard on duty to open the cage for him, he would take his cubs out and show them the city, a place called "Massilia". He would play fight with them and show them battle moves, and he also told them a lot about the Bounty Hunters and the Empires. Because Pallis was a bounty hunter (and an Elite one at that!), Ramiel felt a small kind of kinship or connection to them. He never met any other Hunters though, nor did he fully understand the opposing factions.

[[ Adopting the light ]]

The cubs were growing. Three months old now, Prisca was spending a lot of time with her new human, and all Atlas could talk about was being the very best, like no one ever was. Ramiel and Alex were spending more time with their dad, as the older they got, the longer they could stay out with him. But then everything changed one night, while mom and dad were away and Prisca was away with her human. Del came to visit the cubs. She brought a young ocelot with her, named Spotspot. Deliah told them that Pallis was waiting for them someplace, but that she had to take them one at a time to the waiting place. Ramiel and Alex went with them; Ramiel to see his father, and Alex for the prospect of adventure. Along the way though, Ramiel became suspicious. Why would his father be meeting them in such a dark, unpopulated area?

Then we got to a really tall wall, and Del told Spots to wait with us, as she was going to go back for Atlas. And so we sat there and waited...and when I saw Del again, she was alone, and running to us, and telling us to run too. "W-where's dad?!" I asked.
"He should be coming, but if we don't get out of here now we might not be able to get out at all. We can't wait. Let's go!" Del replied quickly, urging us to flee. She was a friend. I trusted her.
And I...I got scared. I didn't know what was going on. I didn't know why we were running. And so I followed Spots and I ran through a gap in the wall and then we all just ran...We ran away from the tall wall...until it was gone and I no longer heard the sounds of pursuers...

When we finally stopped running, we were so far away from the city...we were outside the city...i knew from dad that the city ended at some point, but all the nature it was...so...weird... I felt so lost...I stuck close by my sister. Her feet began hurting after walking so long.

They continued to walk for a long time until they encountered a Lightning Empire patrol, lead by a lynx named Tempestas. Del seemed to know him quite well though, so it made Ramiel less afraid, but he was still very nervous. The patrol escorted the tired and worn group back to a place they called "camp". There were so many cats at the Lightning Empire camp that Ramiel was frightened. They were of all shapes and sizes and colors and backgrounds. Del brought them to the nursery and stayed with them there, and Ramiel didn't leave the nursery for days. At least he and Alex were safe away from their mother. Dehlia would take care of them. But Ramiel missed his dad. Would Pallis think of them as traitors for living with an empire while he was a bounty hunter?

Ramiel won't realize until later that Pallis had never planned to meet them, (rather, he was the hunter chasing Dehlia), and that it had been a lie that had brought him to be with Lightning Empire.

Background Information -- Since Joining Lightning Empire

[[ Sparks of doubt ]]

As days wore into weeks, Ramiel began to doubt his place among Lightning Empire. They seemed to hate the Hunters. Did they know about his past? Would they hate him if they knew? Ramiel was afraid to meet any new cats, afraid they would hurt him or Alex for their kinship to Pallis. He was now part of the Empire that his mother had so despised. The one that she once led. Was there a reason for her to hate it so...? But then again...his mother was mad. Why should he believe or trust in her judgement...

And what about his father? Pallis had loved all of his cubs! But...if he did...where was he? Why hadn't he rescued them by now? Had he really cared at all? Or was it just a ploy to shape him into the perfect soldier? Ramiel prefers not to think that way. He doesn't want to believe his father would be so dark, and has hope that maybe he did try to find them, but...couldn't. Then again, keeping such hope would make him hesitant to trust the empire with his loyalty. So the cub had to ask himself quite often...who was more worthy of his loyalty?

[[ Feed quests for truth ]]

At last, Ramiel and Alex had grown old enough to become apprentices. Alex wasn't ready, but Ramiel was more than ready. He knew his lost brother and sister would also be old enough now to become apprentices, and he was determined not to get left behind. He wanted to get out into the territory. He wanted to see the borders, learn the location of the city, and know more about the Hunters-from the Empire's perspective. With Roxanne as his mentor, Ramiel was sure he would receive good training. At least he hoped so. Because all he wanted was to be the strongest gladiator he could be, so that one day he could find his father and littermates and get the answers he so sought.

Quirks and Facts

-- When he's uneasy, he tends to shuffle his paws
-- As anyone can notice, most of his rosettes resemble eyes. A similar pattern is visible on his eyelids. Thus, even when his eyes are closed, they look as if they are open. Creeeepy.
