The Royal Medjay

Even if the Prides' legends are true, and the ancient Pride Bast did eventually evolve into what is now known as The Medjay, the Medjay themselves are indifferent to the relation. Their loyalties now lie with the humans of Egypt, and most of them have never known a different life. Their name comes from an elite Nubian fighting force that journeyed here as mercenaries and stayed, merging with local populations and becoming local heroes of sorts as they fought for justice on behalf of the people. Although those old fighters of legend have since passed on, this small elite feline army was named in their memory.

Each member of the Medjay is assigned a human partner- a soldier with whom they will train with for battle. They are not owned by these humans, however, for there are no masters here. Medjay are as free as their human counterparts in Egypt's society, and are expected to follow similar laws as well. The life of service to Egypt is indeed a path of hardship, challenges, and sacrifice, but has plenty of its own rewards.

The Royal Medjay are the protectors of Egypt, the defenders of the Queen-Pharaoh and other high nobles, and the guardians of the dead. To wear their armor and be chosen to fight alongside these cats is considered a great honor and privilege, and doing well among their ranks will be rewarding for both the cat and their human partner.

They reside in a large temple built in their honor, but sometimes may choose to spend nights with their human partner in the barracks where the soldiers often sleep. These cats pride themselves on strict discipline and courage, and consist of cats of every variety - although larger cats are often preferred for their strength.

Their emblem consists of a shield (representing the protection of Egypt), with the feather of Ma’at (worthiness), and two crossed khopesh behind it (symbolizing the willingness to back up their desire for peace with war).

They share a lot of beliefs with the Coalition, but have more faith in the relation between man and beast.
Individuals usually have their own god they feel particularly close to.

Other Notes
Because they are a organized military force, they are issued pieces of armor to denote their rank, starting at the rank of acolyte. (You can view the armor designs in the group's Discord server). These standard issued sets of armor can be replaced with upgraded/unique armor when the character gains enough Drachma to buy more!
